Germany Coup Attempt Foiled

Looks a bit paltry as an effort. I remember in 2016 when the Turkish army tried to overthrow Erdogan even that failed [that said, that may have even been partly set up by the govt to see where the detractors were].

You really need massive support for this kind of thing.

Up to 50 people involved in potentially attacking a government building, and you find it funny?

No, I find the quantity funny. If you want to overthrow a govt you need a lot more support than to be part of a fringe group of 50 people.

Yeah, what if they had connections, etc etc. It looks like a small effort from a load of people who spend too much time on the internet [rather like this place :p].

Ignoring the overall objective, they were still planning a terrorist attack. Something a few on here appear to be brushing off as being acceptable? Just lads in the pub? Why am I not surprised at this. Laughing at the 'aim' whilst ignoring a planned terrorist attack, ignorance at its highest.

Like I said earlier, it'd be a very different thread if it was Muslims planning it.

There is a town in Germany that the far right march through as part of their commemoration of far rightness and the town has a laugh about it. I cant rememeber what it was called.

Found it.

Neo-Nazis gathered in a small German town found themselves the target of an anti-fascist prank this week when they inadvertently raised €10,000 for an anti-extremist organisation.

For decades, far-right extremists have marched through Wunsiedel in Bavaria every year, to the despair of those who live there. This year, the organisers of Rechts gegen Rechts (Right against Right) took a different approach.

Without the marchers’ knowledge, local residents and businesses sponsored the 250 participants of the march on 15 November in what was dubbed Germany’s “most involuntary walkathon”. For every metre they walked, €10 went to a programme called EXIT Deutschland, which helps people escape extremist groups.

It's not out of the realms of possibility that this type of thing might happen here.

Things are going downhill fast.

The mainstream of politics as failed.
