Get Sims 2 Ultimate Collection (all DLC) for free

For everyone stuck at 800x600 this is the fix:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\GraphicRules.sgr

seti Low 3
seti Medium 3
seti High 3

option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $MediumButDefaultLow
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end

Load up and in options you should have more to choose from. This should be for people who need a higher res:

option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600

setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768

setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end

Found from various sites. This should fix any ratio issues:

Clicky

Replace the files in:

My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Cameras\
That's the wrong fix.

the real fix is to add your video card to the list of supported video cards in one of the sgr files theres a huge thread with how to do it on some sims 2 forums if you google for something like "sims 2 new graphics card"

if you don't the game runs in software mode

Actually it supports upto 1600 if you enter your graphics card into the file, you still need the above fix to get a higher screen res afaik. Might be wrong, either way it works just fine from what I can see.

Does it take anyone else 10+ minutes to actually get the game started :o ?

if you don't add your gpu to the file then sure.

look at your sims 2 log file probably says unsported gpu and thinks it had 32mb of ram which is why loading takes so long swapfile usage init bruv~

Mine now says
=== Graphics device info ===
Number: 0
Name (driver): AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Name (database): AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Vendor: ATI
Chipset: Vendor: 1002, Device: 6798, Board: 30061043, Chipset: 0000

HW T&L: Fixed function:1 Programmable:3.0
Pixel program: 3.0
Texture stages: 8
AppControlledAA: 1

check yours in the PC-config-log bet it thinks your gpu has no texture memory room and crams everything onto a swapfile

for the radon 200 series you people just need to add the line
card 0x6798 "AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series"

to video cards.sgr

you get the 0x6798 bit from running dxdiag
like so
Display Devices
---------------
Card name: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Chip type: AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x6798)

seti textureMemory 1744

I did that before it is in the same file as the screen res options I think, I did not know it needed to be in the fix. You do not need to add any of the video card junk, just add the res and the seti texture value.

Not at all, Steam's UI has barely changed since its inception.

If it ain't broke..

Anyway, I was more referring to your post saying that you didn't want this thread to be about Steam vs. Origin, and then you go on to say how you think Origin is so much better than Steam.

probably still runs in software mode if you don't add your card to the supported list though.

tbh it's pretty stupid of EA to give a game away and not update the settings to it knows the new cards

Not surprising though. I'm waiting for EA to release The Sims 4 for free, and then just make you buy every in-game item with real money :p

It does the job better, that is all I'm saying and will say on the subject.

It won't let me turn shadows on or use edge smoothing.

You may have to do what arknor said then, right click on desktop and choose Screen res, click on advanced, you will see a line that says chip type. At the end of this is a hex number 0x6719. Although yours will be different. You also want the Adapter String name which is AMD blah blah whatever your card is.

E:\PCgames\Origin\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\Video Cards.sgr

Add a new line like the rest:
card 0x4B49 "Radeon X850 Series"

Replace the 0x4B49 with your hex number and the name should be the same as you have in adapter. That should allow you to axxs the other options if you can't already.

Thanks for the reply, I've done that and I still can't select either of those options so no idea. Also when I'm creating a Sim the box for changing facial features is in the way of my Sim's face so I can't even see what I'm changing. This happens even when the view is zoomed out as far as it can go.
