That's the wrong fix.For everyone stuck at 800x600 this is the fix:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\GraphicRules.sgr
seti Low 3
seti Medium 3
seti High 3
option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600
setting $MediumButDefaultLow
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600
setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 1920
uintProp maxResHeight 1080
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end
Load up and in options you should have more to choose from. This should be for people who need a higher res:
option ScreenModeResolution
setting $Low
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 800
uintProp defaultResHeight 600
setting $Medium
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
setting $High
uintProp maxResWidth 2560
uintProp maxResHeight 1600
uintProp defaultResWidth 1024
uintProp defaultResHeight 768
end
Found from various sites. This should fix any ratio issues:

Some epic troll bait there.
Not at all, Steam's UI has barely changed since its inception.
probably still runs in software mode if you don't add your card to the supported list though.seti textureMemory 1744
I did that before it is in the same file as the screen res options I think, I did not know it needed to be in the fix. You do not need to add any of the video card junk, just add the res and the seti texture value.
tbh it's pretty stupid of EA to give a game away and not update the settings to it knows the new cards
If it ain't broke..
Anyway, I was more referring to your post saying that you didn't want this thread to be about Steam vs. Origin, and then you go on to say how you think Origin is so much better than Steam.
It won't let me turn shadows on or use edge smoothing.
You may have to do what arknor said then, right click on desktop and choose Screen res, click on advanced, you will see a line that says chip type. At the end of this is a hex number 0x6719. Although yours will be different. You also want the Adapter String name which is AMD blah blah whatever your card is.
E:\PCgames\Origin\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSData\Res\Config\Video Cards.sgr
Add a new line like the rest:
card 0x4B49 "Radeon X850 Series"
Replace the 0x4B49 with your hex number and the name should be the same as you have in adapter. That should allow you to axxs the other options if you can't already.
