To be honest there is no point anyway as people with tans here look a bit strange especially when we haven't had enough sun to be able to achieve the colour!

I don't bother to sunbathe here, there is no point for me, I rather go and relax on hols to get a tan... which is good because I don't expose my skin that often to the rays, but bad because when I do, it is to a higher degree.

It is true, a sunbed or two before you go on hols will build up a base for your skin - (boyfs mum done it) but I have never done a sunbed so wouldn't know.

I didn't see those, I bet they talked me into buying the expensive ones, grrr.
I can't vouch for the UVB's but the UVA's gave me a tan in the space of 3 days, not bad for £4.50 IMO.

I only tried the UVB's as supply of UVA was a bit sparse, as everyone wanted them as soon as they came out. The UVB's tanned me quite quickly, but it only lasted about a week:(

Good thing i have been blessed with an all year tan :D:D...possibly due to the fact that im asian and brown skinned...;)

The darkest I've ever been (despite living in hot climates) was when I spent 3 months in Cyprus teaching people how to sail, and taking part in a yacht race. I was basically on deck for 3 months every day. Blacker than the ace of spades I was... then again I'm pretty olive skinned anyway.

Best way to tan? Do it slowly, and spend time in a sunny country, but take it very very slowly (you'll keep your tan longer). Personally I think tanning salons (which I would never go to come hell or high water) are dangerous and a bad idea. Which is quite hypocritical as I love being in the sun :o
