Getting a tattoo

Yes I have 2 sleeves and don't regret it - however when I first wanted one at 18 my vision was to have my favourite bands CD covers tattooed on in a sort of skin library.

Glad I didn't as while I still listen to them, they are no longer my favourite and thinking back to it now, seems quite naff.

As mentioned, be careful of anything that might be seen as confrontational such as opposing teams - angry/drunken footie fans aren't best known for their actions.

So my advice is - don't get anything to do with names, music or anything else that it likely to change (i.e football teams). Or worse yet, I shudder to think how anyone who was mad enough to get a tattoo of their favourite 70's children's TV show hosts feel right now...

I did that for about 5 years in the 1990s with various designs. Never found one that I didn't hate after 3 months of starring at it.
 
I cannot think why anybody in their right mind would want such a stupid thing, even the few that are called tasteful are actually horrible.
They always carry the tag of chav/excon/idiot with them.

Tattoo's are just overkill now everybody seems to have them and 99% are crap. Literally everyone i know who has them regrets at least one. I have a friend who has about 25 separate designs and he now hates most of them after looking at them for years.
What makes me laugh is there is now certain tattoos that are the cool fashionable must have that everyone trying to look cool and edgy on social media goes out to get then they go out of fashion 6 months later except it's not like fashionable clothes that you just throw away it's on your skin for life!:eek:
I just find it shocking that it's just the norm now to get the latest cool tattoo designs like buying a new pair of trainers except once most of them hit 30 and have kids etc and look older they are just going to look like idiots.
When they first became mainstream about 10 years ago and some of my friends got the Chinese and Arabic writing down there arms or tribal all over them it now just looks chav and out of date.
 
My advice is to find a tattoo you like and from that point give it 1-2 years before getting it, if after that time you still like the tattoo, then get it. Nothing worse than getting something you thought was cool at the time, and a year later you think it's crap.

1) Yes I have two (well technically first one on arm, second one on arm which was designed in to the first one and one on leg) - Trible on arm, chinese dragon on right leg
2) Where is it? (upper right arm coming down to just above elbow) and one on leg
3) Do you regret it? - Not really
4) any advice? - Not really, just dont get something that you will regret, or that is way too visible and you cant hide if you want to.

Someone I know went on holiday (Family member) and got a tattoo of the original multicolored apple Macintosh logo, they didn't know what it was but thought it looked cool

Total LOL and Facepalm moment when I seen it and found out

True story

Luckily they had it made it to something different a year later and looks quite good now, completly different design/colouring

4) Do your homework! Good tattoos ain't cheap, cheap tattoos ain't good.
 
When I was in my 20's I wanted a tattoo then changing my mind. So glad I did, looking at people especially the ones with crappy tattoos you see on reality TV's they look nasty and chavvy.

Got a few people at my work place who are now in their 50's and 60's, ask them about tattoos you get a negative answer.

May look good now, then you wake up and realise you are not forever young.

Never understood the getting old and criticising tattoos. It's not like you're not going to get saggy, wrinkly and have no age spots. What on earth a tattoo being there or not matters I don't know.
 
Do your research on the artist and don't go for the cheapest or the nearest like a lot of people seem to do. It's something you're going to have to live with for the rest of your life.
