Getting an Aussie Work Visa?

Well i have done to Visa thing to work in Australia. I got sponsorship from an employer who offered me a job.

Start to finish i think the application for the 457 (temporary work) visa took 6 months, but i know it can be done in 2. They say temporary but the visa is valid for 4 years. After 2 years he will process my application for residency (has to be instigated by the employer).

Residency will mean that you are not tied to one employer through the visa and are free to seek employment elsewhere if you choose,

The beauty of the 457 is that you can include your partner&children on the one visa and they are all entitled to work under it (if they are old enough of course). The only restriction for partners/kids is that they cannot work for Government agencies.

What he said ^^ We're on the same.

Only after 3 years of residency can you think about applying for Citizenship if you so chose.

2 years in Vic although I would have thought that was across the states!?!

Indeed you can.

Here has the answers

Doesnt seem to fit what I'm after, but thanks anyhow :)

My partners Aunt owns a rather large diamond business near Perth, we were looking to see if she could act as a financial sponsor for the both of us.

Failing that, I guess the other route would be employed within their business, and go down that sponsor channel.
