Hi, i like gaming but finding it a bit boring. I think my main problem is that i have no friends from school who play PC games.

My brother plays Xbox 360 and he has loads of friends who he plays with and hes in clans and blah blah.

Me however, have stuck to PC gaming but have no friends/community. Im just wondering how to find a community for me to play - i need to make some friends online!

Im 16 years old and play Team Fortress 2, CSS, COD4 the most. Anybody help?:p

Thanks.

I don't really understand that sort of attitude.
None of my friends are heavily into PC gaming, I mean the last time I played a game online with a mate was probably a few years ago with an old uni friend.

OK, so some of the people I play with online I have met, and know them quite well from IRC etc, but the community aspect definitely isn't the reason why I play games. I play them because they are fun games, not because of the people involved. Since I bought a house with my fiancee I am even less involved in the community (haven't played an official clanmatch for about 18 months, don't admin leagues any more, only drop in irc maybe every week or two).

For me the whole point of gaming is that I can entertain myself without the need for other people. Even if my internet connection got shutdown for 6 months it wouldn't stop me gaming, as there are so many fantastic SP games out there.

I suppose it may be different for someone of your age, as you have likely grown up with the internet on your PCs. I was gaming on the PC years before I went online and so wasn't brought up with the community aspects.

To be honest im in that sorta stage at the moment, I bring my Laptop to work with the intention to play games but I find myself quitting out half way through most of them and end up listening to music or watching DVDs...

You want my clan at www.fireon-clan.com We mostly play CoD4 and CS:S. A few of us play Supreme Commander and SC:FA online. We have our own teamspeak, well admined (sp?) servers and some great people. Get onto our Teamspeak and have fun! We do. ;)

Have you posted in the pc game forum. i read, sometime ago there were a few forum members hosting CSS on their own servers.

Post your inquiry there you may get a better response in that part of the forum;)

Edit beaten to the post^

I agree gaming does seem to suck now.

Play older games?

Millions of very good games to play, hell, I recently replayed commander keen 4.

As for the a bit newer games: You can play supcom: FA, medieval 2: kingdoms, CoD4, UT3, GoW, TF2, SA:MP, Crysis.

Tons of good games, gaming can only get better, where are people are bringing the opinions from that pc gaming is getting worse, there are only new games coming out, thus gaming is getting better and better, as you can always play older games, hell, even games from around 2001 are still popular, for example mohaa is still active and a lot of people play it.

Get xfire, get into the ocuk gaming community, and join people when they're playing tf2 or cod4, I see at least 1 person always playing the 2 game from my list, with xfire you can always follow them by clicking on their name and then join, can always say ingame you're form ocuk.
Or just ask someone from the list to play a match of something with ya :p.
Or ask around on forums, the main guy I play games with online is also from a forum.

I don't really understand that sort of attitude.

Even though I've been playing sp for ages, it's just not as addicting or fun as playing against humans, I also seem to play a lot better in mp no matter who I'm playing with than with ai's. I agree sp games are good, and I still play sp most of the time, but tbh, I'd play a lot less if I had no mp, nothing beats a quick blast in a mohaa server for 15 minutes or a quick 20 minute round in bf2 online.

In other games, MP brings in totally new styles of playing, ie. on aoe2, you had hundreds of scenario's completly pointless with an ai and boring, but made for mp and extremy addicting, only because of that I've been playing AOE2 3 years extra above the 1 year I've played it in SP only. Some game's, especially strategy games, just open a lot of new oppertunity's & playing styles in mp.

Another example is the shoppa or wxw modes in Worms armageddon and Worms world party, it's impossible to play it like that in sp, but it's been going strong in mp since at least 5 years. Atm there are always at least 40 people in worms armageddon trying to join a game, with more games being in progress, and that's only in wormnet, excluding directIP games.

I find that sticking to a couple servers, rather than joining random servers, really improves the gaming experience. After a couple of sessions you start to notice a few regulars and start swearing at them when they kill you, and before you know it you've got your own posse owning up the place.

There is an OcUK community on Steam and i'm pretty handy as a medic in TF2 if you want get together sometime. :)

I was getting bored a bit until CoD4 came out. Joined back up to my old CoD2 clan, me and a couple of mates from school and a few mates from elsewhere in the UK, just on vent having a laugh most of the time.
