Getting data off a RAID

Hello Guys,

Father in laws pc died before xmas - have bought him a new one but need to get the data off his raid array.

Whats the best way to go about this I don't even kn ow what type of raid it is does anyone have any ideas?

The first step will be to find out what type of array it was. At a guess it will be one of three:

How many drives were in the RAID ?
What was it using for the RAID controller - motherboard or standalone card?
Have you tried connecting it and seeing what happens?
