Getting endless SCAM calls purporting to be from TalkTalk

I did a full reinstall of a guys computer as he told me it had lots of errors on and was very slow. It turned out it was fine it was some Microsoft fake caller trying to scam him

According to the reviews they do.
and why would you believe that, not only are there a tiny minority who give it a bad review, many of us have it installed oon multiple phones and have no such issues.

the tiny percent will be coincidence nothing more. You need to judge reviews better and look at the massive percentage of good reviews. If you carry that thought over you would never install any app or trust any shop. I mean it has over 4million positive ratings and less than 250k bad reviews and a small 300k neutral reviews. and yet you believe the one or two reviews that say it increased spam, mind boggling.

TalkTalk ask you to provide account information including password details via DM on Twitter I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole to be honest.

I've had some of these calls recently. I try and waste as much time as possible for them so hopefully it saves someone else. It can be quite fun asking them what the "Peach" on the back of your computer means.

I read some reviews about that Truecaller and it sounds like people get inundated with spam calls after signing up
Truecaller is awful. It basically exists to scrape the contacts off of the phones of those naive enough to install it and then adds the names and number to its directory without the permission of the person who actually owns the number. You're basically giving away your colleagues, friends and family's data if you install it.

I was having the exact same issue. Blocking the numbers didn't work, telling them to go away didn't work, explaining to them that I would never co-operate with them didn't work.

What did work was leaving TalkTalk and changing my landline number. I did have some issues with debt agencies looking for the previous number owner, but fortunately contacting Experian resolved this.

I don't understand why anyone would ever entertain Talk Talk as an ISP. They have the worst speeds and worst customer service. Almost every slow internet access issues I deal with are for Talk Talk customers.
Well no, they don't have the worst speeds - they are on par with most other ISP's at any given exchange. Their customer service is no worse than any other CS and no better.
You can dislike a company, sure, but just saying "They are the slowest, their CS is worse than everyone else and this is a fact" is kind of not being the truthful.

On the other hand, it certainly is the case that Scammers have made use of hacked data:
TalkTalk admits that a data breach last year allowed scammers to prey on its four million customers, using stolen information [Telegraph]
TalkTalk, the phone and broadband giant with 4 million customers, has admitted it suffered a major data breach in which account numbers, addresses and phone numbers have fallen into the hands of online criminals – who have used the data to steal thousands of pounds. [Guardian]
This doesn't really give the impression of an organisation at the top of its game does it?
