I'm not after another Corsa, it's tempting to get the 1.8 SRi but I couldn't, it's time to move on.

£5500 budget minus the insurance.

Lets say no more than a 1.8 petrol or 1.9 CDTi/TDi

Ran a quote through on a 1.8 Corsa(I'm not buying one, it's just a guesstimate) which is group 8 iirc £16xx and a Skoda Fabia VRS £1550

What ins group is a Fabia VRS?

Thanks

But it's with a fault claim and non fault on my file so...and I only have 1ncb.

I live in an awful area too (OL postcode).

OL what? My gf used to live in OL16 and we've moved to OL13 and our quotes have halved and they're still awful (im paying about £1700 or so for my 330i @ 20 with 2 years ncb)

I'm in OL16 Tom. Not the best of places.

What car is the best of the class with 5500£

A Focus Ghia 1.8TDCi(115) 52 reg comes out at £1312 FC, but for £4645 I feel the car is overpriced(Independant dealer).

I like how they drive. Lots of low end grunt. I spend more time doing motorway miles now. The fabia vrs is only available as a turbo d and i like them.

Thats not true most TDIs can be driven quite happily at low rpms.

They can be driven, yes, but if you need to pick up speed not an awful lot happens for a bit. This is frustrating, then all the power begins to arrive once you get over 2000rpm. The car I've got at the moment is the same - negotiating speed ramps in 2nd, and then accelerating away - foot hard to the floor, nothing nothing nothing nothing whoa off we go at last.
