Getting into a non bootable HDD?

Partition magic removed the partition ok, and formatted the whole disc ok.
Stick it back in the laptop again stick the XP disc in and it hangs on installing drivers..
Take the HDD out of that laptop and take my own laptop apart and put it in there,
Setup starts.
Get to the where do you want wondows to be set up.
Choose the relevant HDD and let it format..
OH... it's moved off of 0%, even though it was sat there 10 mins.
I decided to write this and it's up to 10% now... getting much further..
