I have got a AMD Phenom II X6 OC @ 3.51GHz
and a Sapphire 6950
I got windows 7 64Bit
I also installed the driver hotfix

I am running Crysis Warhead at 1920x1080, max setting and 4xAA plus there seems to be no performance difference between 2xaa and 4xaa

Most of the time in combat i get between 25 to 30 FPS occasionly jumping to 35 and in heavy combating such as when you are escorting that crashed pilot and there are lots of enemy vehicles attacking you it falls to 21 or 22 and even to 16-18 for brief moments

I mean am I expecting too much from my 6950 or is it performing less than it should.

Theres not that much difference between 2 x AA and 4 x AA that I've found in warhead or the original crysis for that matter, also had the same with my previous 5850. I don't know why but it has been reported by other ppl in the past. Just crank up the AA and use it with minimal performance hit.

Well i upgraded from a Core 2 Duo @ 2.13GHz 2GB RAM 800MHz and ATI 4850

I suppose im expecting around 10 FPS more than im getting right now woth my 6950. Average now is about ~30 and minimum 16, i was expecting average ~40 and minimum 25

seems bad to me...

I play crysis witha dual core [email protected] the settings are all on high (3rd highest) not ultra high (4th and top highest) and the minimum I get 35fps at the same resolution with 4xaa like yourself!

You say this is your top fps... don't know how much more the ultra settings hog your system but like above... do some bench marking across different software/games give yourself an idea if the card is doin fine compared to others in most areas!

from what i understand (never played crysis) but a six core is useless when it coems to older games like crysis. When it comes to crysis it only works on.. (one?) core so your other 5 are doing pretty much nothing to help the game. Crysis is VERY cpu heavy as its a HUGE open island which needs to be processed all the time. Thats why your seeing low fps when theres a lot of NPC's on screen.

i7's run better with crysis but Crysis is poorly made too, I wouldnt worry too much. Crysis seems to be one of them games that they only made to show off (same with metro) with your setup you should be able to play 95% of games perfectly.
Another game that runs poorly is oblivion, fps drops to around 45 when NPC's are on screen (or around the next corner), yet the engine is old and even a cheap laptop should be able to run it on max.

Try the dx11 benchmark 'Heaven'? cant remember the name >< then compare it with other specs like yours. :) Im sure its running as well as others :D merry christmas and hoped i helped a little

I just ran heaven 2.1 on the same settings as these guys here:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18221110

My 6950 is at stock clocks I manages to get an average of 48.5, min 29.4 and max 116

considering people with a slight overlock managed 49 it seems my new rig is just working fine as Crysis is a piece of **** when it comes to optimization.

Nice one :D. I was the same as you a few months back when i upgraded my cpu and gpu ..and got less fps than i had with an old rig on crysis >< People are lead to beleave by all the benchmark sites that you should use/used crysis as a benchmark to see how good your pc spec is. Thing is pcs have changed SO much since crysis first came out. The engine is flawed to buggery and IMO people should use metro and/or 3dmark now. (which is old but still gives u a score which allow you to compare your system with others who have the same setup as you)

Glad its all running good and hope you have a merry christmas ;)
