Getting my first SSD

It is AMD, yeah. Not sure if it says what ports it uses, the product page is here. If I won't get those read/write speeds, then would I be better getting something else? Or would that just lower the speed more?
 
i dont know on amd boards but anything before (p67 intel) probably use marvel ports and they arnt very good,you need someone who has an amd/ssd to comment further,you wont max the ssd read/write youll just be limited by the type of sata3 on that mb,its up to you if you wanted to go for it or choose something cheaper ect

any ssd will be quicker than a hdd though no matter what sata ports you have

Oh dear... Well, I have been thinking about upgrading my mobo and processor for a while. I can't do it right now, or for a couple of months at least. But I'll still see a major increase in performance from the HDD I have at the moment, and the SSD will still work on a new mobo, as you say, it will work better. So I think for now the GT is still the way to go?
 
its upto you,you wont lose anything really it will still be quick how quick idk,then if you upgrade later you can carry over the ssd
 
Yep, it will be an upgrade as it is and if I decide to upgrade my mobo/processor later then it's another possible free upgrade with the SSD. That's it then, I'll go and order it now before I change my mind again, haha :P

Yeah, got Windows 7 64-bit. Just gotta get all my stuff backed up now, I'll be lucky if I get it done by the time the SSD arrives, haha :P

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll be here on either wednesday or thursday... But I'm still hoping for tuesday XD
 
advice would be to unplug your other drives when you install to insure all the boot files are installed to the SSD


if windows finds boot files on other drives it will just use them instead of installing new ones to the SSD otherwise.....once the OS is installed connect your other drives back up.
 
What I'll probably do, is put my HDDs back in one at a time and sort out where I want everything to go. Because right now they're a complete and utter mess and I hate it. So I might try and swap everything about and reformat those hard drives to have them be completely clean as well. I could pop some stuff on my sister's pc as well, whilst I get everything sorted.

Does the second one need to be running at x8/x16 for SLI?

The SATA 3 ports are native AMD so should hopefully perform better than the add on controllers.

The motherboard doesn't support SLI.
