So, to those of us who are starting to get on a little, what have you noticed about getting old ? In particular changes in yourself?

I'm 42 happily married /w two kids and well, I guess you could say, I'm really starting to feel like I'm starting to age, compared to the young buck I once was !! :D

I'm noticing in myself, that ......

I do not drive as fast as I once use too.

Video games.... Although I try and stay interested, truth of the matter is, playing a video game is more of a chore than not.

Hiking / sports even though its still enjoyable, its a lot more work than I remember it being, with much less results.

Music being loud is now annoying whereas it once was a must.

Movies being loud, is again, too loud rather than a must as it once was!

Anything with a fast beat such as dance and house, is now becoming noise rather than music, and it was once my favorite type of music to listen too.

Under the sheets, well the go in me is most definitely on the decline. BUT I WILL GO DOWN A FIGHTIN' MAN in that department !!!!

Risk taking.. has umm come to a grinding halt. Taking a risk these days is driving 10mph over the speed limit.

I'm still happy though and satisfied with everything that I've done in my life, getting old was inevitable... my gallivanting days are OVER !

Are there any other forum members over 40 that have started noticing similar changes in themselves ?

Hmmm, I'm 48, still love my happy hardcore good 'n loud. Still bumbling my way through Skyrim as often as possible and still cycling like a nutjob to work and back every day, don't see myself slowing down any time soon.

Buy some new toys, that'll do the trick.

I,m 23 and i already feel old.
I hate loud music, games are becoming tirsome, i have no interest in sports or going out much. My days are basically, wake up, go to work, come home and watch movies or play the odd game. Rinse repeat.

I'm 45 next week. I still love music. Bored with games and technology now and far prefer real life experiences to sitting in front of a PC. Much more aware of my health. I now work to live rather than live to work.

I don't have the energy I used to have.

I'm 50, I'm married with two kids , boy 21 ( Stepson), and girl just coming up to 13 who may well turn out to be a genius , I don't drink ...I used to drink a lot when I was younger, ...I do smoke ..maybe a little too much ..still thinking about giving up lol

But the only real difference I've noticed is the physical side of getting older I suppose, but all said and done...I'm happy and that's all that matters I suppose :)

Fix it then, it will only spiral out of control and become worse.

Except for the fornication and dance music (well, I still HATE cheese. More into underground techno and house stuff), I'm relating to most of that. However, I'm only just turned 35

I know they say life begins at 40 and to some degree I can see why. I'm 41 and haven't really been happier within my own skin than I am now. There are some downsides though. I was always dead skinny as a younger man and also very active. Now though, I don't do sports or the gym and I've bulked out a bit, so that's something I need to keep an eye on. Also, my eyesight was always 20/20 but this last couple of years I've noticed my left eye is a little blurred, so maybe a trip to Specsavers is on the horizon.

Same with me at 43, I recently had to get some glasses as things started to get a fuzzy round the edges. Ive also started to get aches in my shoulder and hip.

|I dont really play games any more, and agree with the loud music, Im not risk adverse though. My passion in life is foreign travel with my wife.

Far less driven far more content. A lot harder to keep fit and when I exercise I feel the bite earlier and longer. I notice more about the world and tend to think more of how other people will think or feel rather than from my view. Eyesight rapidly going to pot. Hangovers last for days so I rarely drink. I need my sleep or else I suffer for a few days. I still like competitive games without the need to really compete. I've started hobbies I would never have considered before eg researching my family tree and meeting up with quite distant relatives. Most of all I would say I learned (quite a bit ago) to be content, happy with my lot and not constantly chasing new things. I've learned to appreciate a sunny day or a nice view more than materialistic things.

I'm 40 this year. I am fitter than I have been in years and stronger, I am happy in my own skin. I know enough in my career to be properly in demand and would argue I have more to offer than the dead wood folks. I am probably more driven than ever, but that is probably due to having a family to support. I am still (just) getting better at the sports I love. My taste in music is as diverse as ever and DnB does not just sound like noise. I still have an unhealthy interest in getting wrecked but I am ever so good at it. My beard is white but has been for ages. I am not as good looking as I was in my 20s but better looking than I was through most of my 30s. I don't feel old thanks very much :)

Screw you guys. I'm 28 and every time I get a haircut less of it grows back! By the time I'm 40 I'll be rocking the Mr. Clean look.

Diminishing eyesight and middle aged spread :(
And grey hairs!

46 here,Noticing more hair growing out of my nose and ears than my head, takes ages to keep them at bay.

Single, got a 7 year old daughter who i see quite a bit, gave up smoking 17 months ago, took up running, after 2 months of running i tore some ligaments in my ankle, not running at the moment as my ankle still plays up but looking to get out again soon.

Middle age spread has been creeping up on me since i gave up smoking, was 14 stone but now 15-7,have started a diet as i was 16 stone not long ago.

Work nights for 15 years and do a very physical job and im the best at what i do out of 70+ people....even 20 year olds cant keep up :)

Still game but as op said...its more of a chore now and looking to get rid of my steam account which has 150 games.
