Getting on ! To those over 40yr olds.

So, to those of us who are starting to get on a little, what have you noticed about getting old ? In particular changes in yourself?

I'm 42 happily married /w two kids and well, I guess you could say, I'm really starting to feel like I'm starting to age, compared to the young buck I once was !! :D

I'm noticing in myself, that ......

I do not drive as fast as I once use too.

Video games.... Although I try and stay interested, truth of the matter is, playing a video game is more of a chore than not.

Hiking / sports even though its still enjoyable, its a lot more work than I remember it being, with much less results.

Music being loud is now annoying whereas it once was a must.

Movies being loud, is again, too loud rather than a must as it once was!

Anything with a fast beat such as dance and house, is now becoming noise rather than music, and it was once my favorite type of music to listen too.

Under the sheets, well the go in me is most definitely on the decline. BUT I WILL GO DOWN A FIGHTIN' MAN in that department !!!!

Risk taking.. has umm come to a grinding halt. Taking a risk these days is driving 10mph over the speed limit.

I'm still happy though and satisfied with everything that I've done in my life, getting old was inevitable... my gallivanting days are OVER !

Are there any other forum members over 40 that have started noticing similar changes in themselves ?

I think most of those points you made are not attributable to age but just to the fact you're a miserable git.

I have just turned 40 and have no intentions of turning into a old fart . Love everything just as much now as i did as a teenager . Including seriously loud drum n bass

43 myself and loving life. Two daughters and recently became a Grandad. I am always skint and have nothing saved to speak of. Plenty of holidays and love getting smashed on a Sunday with a few old football mates :)

43 here with a wife and 3 kids. The only thing that has definitely degraded is I can't lift what I once was able to in the gym. Had a couple of years break, went back to it recently and it hurts now. My eyes are slowly getting worse too.

I've become less tolerant as I've got older generally, but other than that I've not noticed any other differences. Still enjoy properly loud music in the car and still enjoy video games. The biggest positive difference is I now have the financial means to enjoy myself a bit more and indulge once in a while.

At 31, I can't say I am overly fond of this aging lark, especially as mentally I don't see myself any old than my mid twenties. The worst thing is fancying someone, and then finding out they are under 20 :/

At 40 I am thus:

Going grey - Sod all the Just for men rubbish! not vain in the slightest

Creaking - I find it hard to get up off the floor if I decided to sit down somewhere. Honestly it is like I have been stuck to the floor for eons and my legs have decided to give up lol

Gym time - At this moment in time there is a total lack of exercise going on! I do not run or lift weights etc. The only physical activity I do is when the wife gives me that "UP FOR IT?" wink lol

My Kids - I have just given up trying to understand the minds of my two teenagers! My son is pretty much a copy of me when I was at his age! My daughter is a totally different kettle of fish. I swear she has made me go grey sooner rather than later!

Is this the legacy of the 40+ male? To slowly run down and burn out? Please god there has to be a magic fix lol

EDIT: Lmao I just remembered an hilarious song sketch from Hale & Pace! "Fat, Bald and 40" lol

Never felt better being in my 40's much prefer this time of life than the days of being in my 20's, what cracks me up is when all these young bucks thinking they know it all about life at such young age when really they have not got a clue. suppose we are all like that :)
