Vodafone :D

signed up for 24 month contract, against my will, a month ago. I constantly and continously asked for any good international bundles/roaming etc... and they said "yes, if you do this then...". seemed fine.

a week later I went to the US (this is 3 weeks ago now). I then got a text msg saying to call vodafone urgently because of high costs on the account.
obviously, it would cost me roaming charges...so I do so.

The guy basically threatened me that I need to pay £65 deposit or have my account terminated. I asked why and he said because the bill is currently over £120! made no sense!!!!

so I paid.
I tried looking on the vodafone my bill website and not only is it DEAD SLOW! But there is no option to view a previous bill....

I rang CS, takes me a good 25 minutes before I get through to someone I cannot understand!
I go instore, I wait 20 minutes and they say they cant help but only to ring CS!

so how the heck can I get out of this contract which is not satisfactory to me for customer service and having 80% of their functionality unfunctional?

im so annoyed! SO annoyed :(

ive lost over a days worth of work because of this crap, running around, trying to get help and cant!

View past bill is for when a monthly bill is done isn't it? No network can actually see roaming calls in the way you're asking - this is because when you roam, the network you're roaming on "bills" your home network in a different way to normal so it's usually updated only every x days etc... It's pretty hard to explain sorry (and it's extremely complicated, several times over standard network design) and I'm probably making a hash of it but all networks would have this issue.

The real crux here is probably what you were told in the shop - just exactly what did they say you had to do? Did you do it? Also - "against your will" - you're going to have to expand on this, I somehow doubt they threatened to chop your arm off if you didn't ;)

USA pricing is only available at the below rate according to the website - did you check this at all?
Make a call Receive a call Send a text Send a picture message Data
£1.35 a min £1.00 a min 35p + a domestic text 37p £3 per MB for up to 5MB then £15 for every 5MB after.

Did you leave data on per chance?

thanks for the response. I guess sometimes things are not read the way it was meant if you listened in person :p

what I meant against my will is that, I hate the fact that providers now only do 24 month minimum! no 12 months or VERY rarely.... thats what I meant ;)

I did not have data on. There were a few times I needed to use the data therefore vodafone rep said to call CS (which takes a min of 15 minutes to get through to someone who I cant understand) and ask them to put on the £5/day bolt on which gives you 25MB. I did so (again, incurring roaming charges!). But I always got a text saying that I have exceeded my allowance and will be charged the normal rates but no where near did I use more than 10MB on that day!!

As for the roaming costs, I know they are expensive however they said that they also added a package/bolt on for my contract which reduces the costs. Now, i did NOT make calls, I did recieved 1 or 2 calls BUT they were less than 3 minutes as I told them I was abroad... I keep my phone for emergencies when I am abroad and these werent emergencies at all.

so I dont even get why the bill would be more than £100 already with a threatning phone call from vodafone to pay that deposit or they would terminate my account. Again, calling internationally to CS..... roaming charges. I swear they are doing this to get more $$$

The point is, I got treated pretty badly and the amount of time waiting to get through to CS is not good at all especially to people you cant understand.

as for my bill on the website... doesnt matter where you have been, the point is that they bill you therefore it should be on your statement yes? There is no view current bill or view previous bill AND the website is SLLLLOOOWWWWWWW

what I meant against my will is that, I hate the fact that providers now only do 24 month minimum! no 12 months or VERY rarely.... thats what I meant ;)

12 month contracts arnt rare, I switched from a 24month contract to a 12month sim only quite easily.

Even if you receive calls your still be charged a £1 a minute (i think) and you calling them will have put even more charges on.

Calling the UK for 15minutes is what has stung you, not really vodafones fault tbh

Website has a current fault registered against it, it doesn't work very fast internally either sorry :( At a guess you were applying world data traveller? http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/pay-monthly/data-traveller/index.htm but honestly, 25meg is food to phones these days, it's not hard to imagine your phone eating this but it could have been the calls to customer services too - these arn't cheap from abroad (although i don't know if you get a cheap rate through calling 191 direct).

Don't suppose it was an Android 4.0+ handset? This has a built in data graph logger we could check.

There is no view current bill or view previous bill
There is, I'm looking at it :/ - login to the customer portal and it's under the sections "What you've used since your last bill" and "My bills and usage"

Could it be because you only joined Vodafone around 3 weeks ago, and therefore have no previous bills? (Or did I read that wrong in the op?)

could be. but the CS was telling me something different. *sigh*

anyway at the end of the day I want out of the contract. ive got very solid grounds. im not a happy customer and its better leaving now than say 3 months down the line.

You'll need to find the term in your T&Cs that they didn't conform to in order to leave currently.

I should raise them an invoice for wasting my time and loss of business. I have to pay the "penalty" of around £700 to exit the contract. why should I pay for that with the service I am getting from them along with the "threat" when I was abroad?

What exactly would you like us to tell us? As you well know there's no get out clause as you agreed to the contract when you signed it. You knew the roaming charges, they had told you in the shop.

They took a payment from you for anti-fraud - new customer roams on month one and racks up a HUGE bill, you fit the perfect pattern of new customer fraud. You enquire about early termination and told the price and are upset? When you signed up to it?

Calm down, get them to give you a bill for month one (or phone up and ask for individual charges to be read off) and go from there.

I think you arent understanding :) nevermind....
they told me different things when i signed up for the contract. now im signed up, its different.
there is no excuse for them to be rude and give me POOR customer service! this was not in the contract. if so, please tell me where cos I sure as hell cant find it!

Unfortunately you're going to come up against the problem of it's your word against the person who sold you the contract and neither of you can prove anything.

To be perfectly honest, you agreed a 24 month contract. The terms were made available to you at the time of signing the contract. If you didn't fully research the costs that you would incur by roaming, you've only yourself to blame.

hmm. misunderstood again and jumping the gun again :(

Sorry, what? If I've misunderstood your posts, it is simply because your incoherent ranting leaves a fair amount of ambiguity as to what the hell you actually mean!

You signed a contract - yes
You were "told something about roaming charges" - who knows
The roaming charges were displayed before you signed up - yes

What have I misunderstood?

Somehow it doesn't feel to me like Vodafone are the ones in the wrong here. Call it a feeling in my waters.

It just feels like someone has signed the contract on the word of the employee rather than actually going on what was written down.
