OK

Friend has given me another samsung F3 1tb drive.

I install it, its coming up as part of a 1862Gb (2 disks i guess) RAID 0 set up...

Ive tried formatting it but it keeps coming back.

What tools can i use to reset this back to its normal solo self.

Doing a low-level format should be enough, unless there are some special jumpers that have been set.

Go onto the Samsung website to get their in-house app for low level formatting.

I had a similar problem the other week. I ended up having to stick the SATA controller back into RAID mode and using the RAID BIOS to delete the array which it thought was on the drive.

There's no need to worry about drivers or anything because you shouldn't be going anywhere near Windows. Just boot the machine, flip the controller to RAID mode, straight into the RAID BIOS & delete the array. Then reboot, back into the main BIOS and put the controller back to whatever mode it was in before.

yeah good idea i was looking for a lazy way.

i dloaded Samsung tools burnt it to a dvd and it came up with a string of errors... bloody thing :( lol
