Im hoping to take some pictures of the lunar eclipse and i am not sure what is the best way to take a picture of it.

I have never taken a picture of the moon before and wondered if there was any tips you kind people can share!

What settings, iso, metering mode, lens etc. shall i use?

Thanks in advance!

Josh

Does anybody know what kind of exposure/ISO/other settings you would need to get a shot like this one?

I was thinking maybe a 400 ISO and maybe a 1/100 shutter speed or something?

Im not sure changing the ISO would do much.

If you are using a tripod i would say keep it at ISO 100. Its the exposure length and metering mode that im not sure on myself.

Think i remember a thread about moon shots not so long ago.

Just took a few shots of the moon with 18-70 Nikkor Lens @ 70mm.

Spot metering
Aperture: 5.6
Shutter 1/250
ISO: 200

All 100% crop.

I need telephoto lens :(

Just took some shots!

Very yellow here in moon so far. Nice portugal skies!

Shame my only telephoto is a Tamron 70-300mm. The images look a lil blurred. Was only £70 so i cant complain!

Try, f8 1/200 iso100, i would think that's a good safe bet :)

I've tried some test shots with my 70-300 sigma, and it shows up it's high (!) quality so well! :o

my moon looks like star! :(

At the moment I'm desperate for any type of telephoto lens

Same here. I'm gonna try holdin' my cheap'n'cheerful Fuji F610 at the eyepiece of my Canon 18x50 I.S. bino's (not so cheap..)

I think if you go outside at about 10 past 8 tonight and wait a litle, youll see the transition. I'm using ISO 200, f6.3, 1/1000th.s spot metering, and auto WB.

Might trade in some of the speedy exposure for a larger f.stop. dont want blurry images!

Just tried now. So far not that great with my 200mm F4 + 1.4x convertor. Using ISO200, F7, around 1/400.

It's just too small. Can't get a decent sized sharp image :(

Nice one SDK shows the quality of your L lens. Just wish i had that extra 100mm on my camera.
