Getting unwanted hassle from someone - how do I block a number?

Hi,

I'm getting a bit of unwanted hassle from my ex-girlfriend - to the point where it's getting very tiresome getting constant missed calls from her.

Is blocking a number easy to do - is it just a case of calling Vodafone and asking them to block a number, or do the police etc have to be involved?

I had a mate who had this problem once; it was all sorted with a 10 minute phone call to his provider (Orange iirc). He just said he wanted the number blocked and that was it. For a bit.

It took 'her' about 3 days to work this out and change her number...

He ended up just changing his

Just send her a txt saying you report her to the police if she carrys on phoning/txting you and see if she stops.

Depending on the phone you got you could also get an app to automatically hang up on her, or even play her a nice message

You'd have to do it for all blocked numbers too then i suppose.

Some phones have a star/pound code that can be used to access a blocking list for incoming calls... but the exact details depend on phone and operator branding and might not even feature on your phone.

I had this problem with an ex (but probably not quite as bad), and while it was bad for a short time, she stopped after a couple of weeks.

Is she calling your home phone or a mobile, and if it's the latter whatt ype do you have?

i had this problem a few years ago, reported to to the police and they took her sim card.

WHat good does that do, unless they erase your number from her memory? Did she stop?

Samsung phones (at least mine) have a feature for blocking numbers built in.

well she stop calling and texting so i guess they did.

I'm surprised all new-ish phones don't have this as a standard feature!

Blocking a phone number should be as easy as blocking someone on MSN :cool:

What phone is it then? I know some providers won't do the blocking so if it's a symbian phone or a jailbroken iphone you can definitley get an app for it. As already said Samsung phones should be able to do it without any extra software.

I solved it, called Vodafone and they supplied me with a new number there and then

Yeah. My tocco ultra has this feature.

On my HTC Hero I can specify whether I want to divert calls immediately to answer phone from certain numbers, very useful when you don't want to speak to one particular person and can pretend your phone is out of juice!
