Ghostbusters Reboot

Only the second one look anything like ok, the rest are just awful

I disagree. I think the second one looks the most generic of the lot, whereas the others at least have a personality of some sort.

Overall I'm not expecting much though. That visit they made to some sick children's ward a few months back looked an absolute shambles.

The second one looks a bit cool and the others, while they "have a personality of some sort" don't strike to me as personalities that i want to know, until a trailer comes that can prove otherwise, they just seems like a bunch of SJW and feminazis thrown together.

Oh you just would believe the **** taking on 4Chan that is still receiving, lets just say the photoshops have been very unkind and hilarious in equal measure :o

Those posters are trying so hard it hurts. Where is the comedy charm that is Ghostbusters? I really hope this film proves me wrong but i think this should have been left on the shelf when Ramis died :(

Not even going to watch the trailer for this when it comes out, let alone see the movie.

So so sad! :(

I hope it's really good because so many people want it to be terrible.

So do I ;)

Slightly more seriously it amuses me that people get so worked up over new versions of an old film or new films in a serious based purely on rumours, static images and their perceptions of the cast ("I don't like that one they were in several films I didn't like as they weren't aimed at my preferences").

I suspect if the original Ghostbusters film had been made now there would have been a lot of people making similar comments about how it's going to be terrible, how the uniforms don't look great etc.

I'll tend to try and wait without any expectations of the film and hope for the best, after all it's not like films are the only thing to get new versions with new casts every now and then, the theatre has been doing it since before Shakespeare was born, and the likes of the modern theatres modify the setting/cast gender and cast entirely on a regular basis (IIRC some people were very much against the BBC Sherlock series as it "looked odd" and "out of place" set in modern London).

You can't tell how good a film is going to be until it's been released, I've seen some that looked awesome in the promo shots, the advertising and trailers and had a cast who were all great actors in their own rights, but the film itself has been utterly rubbish* with the only good bits those that were shown in the trailers.
I've also seen films where pretty much everything before it was released suggested it was going to be bad, and it's been excellent.

Same with actors etc, there are actors who I have absolutely hated everything they've been in, then thoroughly enjoyed their work in a new role.
I'm quite aware of the fact that I'm not likely to enjoy an actor doing a role in a rom com aimed at young women, or a role in something like Twighlight, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to enjoy their work in something that is aimed more at my tastes (except Kirsten Stewart, I've had the misfortune of watching her ruin films that if someone else had been playing the role would have been much better).

*I remember much of the excitement before Star Wars Episode 1 was released, and how it turned out.

A real shame the car looks cheap and not as legendary as the original.

Sony allegedly spent upwards of $200k restoring the car, and where its it now? out on the back lot again exposed to the elements where it spent years deteriorating since the first movie. Apparently putting it inside a building and covering it up with a large dust sheet escapes the geniuses at Sony.

The restoration was good but they screwed up some things, the 2 front round blue lights are meant to pulse on and off, and the red light at the top is missing its lens, its means to spin but doesn't any-more. :(

Can see these on the gb2 intro

Ecto 1-a is pretty much screwed theres pics on this page showing how it is currently. Literally a heap of scrap.

I always assumed these iconic cars were in museums.

Nope, they sit in display at a backlot. Ecto 1-a as you can see is totally trashed. And apparently the work done on Ecto 1 is showing plenty of wear and tear already.

unfortunately not, most of the film studios don't have the space to properly store even what are now considered iconic props.

It's not as bad as it was going back 50 years ago when from memory basically only one guy in Hollywood was responsible for saving.storing many of the remaining smaller props*, but unless they've got the room to put it in a display that will earn money it's very expensive to properly store many of the props.

Things like the Nostromo "hero model" from Alien was I beleive stored outside the back of the studio for years and left to rot (and was lucky at that, given the size many such props may be destroyed or dismantled and reused in other films etc).

It's hard to believe but most props from films, including the major ones are or used to be considered pretty much disposable.

With things like the cars, from my understanding there are often multiple ones used with different levels of detail and function, so whilst one might be kept in good condition (probably the "beauty" one that is the best looking for close ups but may not actually run or may not handle well because of the weight) others used for things like normal driving scenes, let alone stunts are disposable.

*I can't remember his name, but it started off with him picking up a few props that were being thrown out from films and TV he'd been involved with/visited the sets and because he got known for saving them he got offered them by people working on films. By the time he died he had probably the best collection of classic sci-fi props in the Hollywood if not the world.

What I don't understand is who is this film being made for.

Let's be honest, geeks love ghostbusters, we all think that this film looks tosh.

Does the general public want an all female ghostbusters reboot?

I just don't understand how this was green lit for funding?

A lot of ~40+ women like the original Ghostbusters. Maybe that's why they thought this could work - but I think they've misread it.

I like Bridesmaids and Spy, but this doesn't seem like a good idea on many levels.
