All these remakes that we bitch about are only what they are precisely because of these soulless bean counters
The crazy thing is this is the first time I really remember a studio going on the offensive against a fan base? why do it, what do they gain? wouldn't it have been better to just say they are aiming for a new audience rather than bad mouth any criticism? It seems a reflection of modern times that people are unable to see others opinions as just that opinions, they have to be right at all costs unable to see a different view or appreciate there is a middle ground?
Another reason not to see it.

I'm kind of hoping this movie puts the final nail in the coffin of all these **** reboots that just ensure the franchise dies and that we never see a proper remake. Make some new IP! If it's good, it will sell. Sticking an old name over the top for marketing reasons isn't going to make a bad film successful, it's just going to kill off a well loved IP.

Not really, but basically: According to Sony and the 'stars' of the film, the reason people don't like the look of this is because they're misogynistic basement dwellers and they've also gone as far as selectively deleting negative comments from places like youtube in order to try and make it look like public opinion isn't what it is.
It has nothing to do with the film looking like poo apparently.
