Does this 4GB issue affect ALL X-Fi cards or only an unlucky several? I ask because I'm getting another 2GB shortly and want to know if I will suffer this issue with my Xtreme Music.
Pretty sure it affects everyone. Maybe Creative will fix it in their next driver (if we're lucky)... as it stands, my onboard Realtek is being used instead until they get their act together.
Can I just confirm that the Prelude will be able to encode all sounds (like sound from games) to Dolby Digital/DTS for output through the optical/coax connection? or only sounds that are already in DD like the crap way the current creative cards do it?
If it does then I might seriously consider this card I've been looking for an excuse to leave creative.
Yes the card will encode dolby digital and dts on the fly - so you can play games in surround sound over optical - but these features won't be immediately implemented in drivers. Auzentech are currently indicating Q4 2007 for DD Live and Q1 2008 for DTS connect.
I'm not buying it until at least DD live is up and running.
Vista 64bit here with 4gb ram. And i have either a vacuum cleaner when i speak on my mic (using XFi xtreme pants here) or i have an apache hovering around my head to the point where it hurts all my gaming friends ears
can someone confirm the prelude works in vista 64bit with 4gb of ram and no issues with crackling or mic problems.
