Im probaiblly going to get the MSI but I might be getting the Asus depends if I watercool the graphics cards or not.
I was looking at the Gigabyte because of its wealth of overclocking options, the dual NOT quad crossfire addition.
I didn't realise until today that they are backwardly compatible with AM2 X2 A64s! Considering my 5000+ BE just landed yesterday that's a good thing.

Does that mean the guy doesnt know what Phenom actually is or that he is not allowed tell me anything about Phenom?

ive been waiting for phenom for bloody ages, still on S939 opty 170 here... i have decided to wait a little longer though as AM3 is only around the corner so i will grab one once there out and about. heres hoping it performs near to or as well as intels 45nm penryn.

I have read in wikipedia that the high end phenoms will not use AM2+, is that true?.
I dont want to invest a lot of money on a motherboard with a nearly obsolete socket.
Which socket will become obsolete sooner, AM2+ or LGA775?
I know this is technology and things goes by quick, i just want to upgrade my CPU at least once without having to replace the full mobo.

probably AM2+ as i read recently that AM3 could be here as early as late January.
I do believe so... AM3 is meant to be DDR3 only. So it wont be around for a while.
the mobo's are DDR3, but the CPU's have DDR2 & 3 controlers onboard, to work in AM2 and AM2+ mobo's

What I want to know is, when is Nvidia offering it's new chipset? I don't want a Crossfire mobo as I need an SLi offering. Any ideas peeps?

Some time in Q1 2008 apparnelty now that 780i has been delayed. 790i may come sooner but I dont think it will and thats apparnelty DDR3 only.
Hmm thanks for that tid bit. So two of the CPU's will be out before then, however only on a small selection of mobo's with the AMD chipset?
I guess I'll wait till the new year and look at all the options before the upgrade.
