** GIBBO's EXPLANATION OF THE NEW AMD LINEUP - WHICH ONE SHOULD I BUY? **

The 7970 matrix is really testing my resolve, especially now that I've seen it for £226 at a competitor. I'm trying to hold off buying a graphics card for the time being, if I did go with a 7970 I'll need 2talkingbof which will they fit on an Asus Maximus vi formula with a pci-e sound card?) to power the dell u2711 monitor which'll set me back best part of £500 which I can't currently afford(nor justify).

Are you saying you cant afford the monitor or the two possible 7970s?

Wait until this weekend, were trying to get Asus to do something special, can't say any more, but ensure you check website this weekend - homepage.

Hmm sounds intriguing, however unless its really cheap don't think I'll be able to bite. Anyway would a couple of these or a 290x/gtx780(dependent on the performance, then a second at a later date) be a better upgrade from xfire 6950s?

And another thing will the triple slot cooler on this allow for two of these plus a pci-e sound card(I have the sound blaster titanium) to fit on the Maximus vi formula?

I was tempted by the 7990 @ £470 you had recently but due to the reason/s already mentioned I didn't get one.

Gibbo I have to say I'm quite disappointed after all the cloak and dagger, the matrix is £236 which is £10 more than the one I passed on a few days back. In the description for the top it says for under £200 yet the price is £210

"You'll never see an offer like this again, an Asus HD 7970 TOP for under £200 - BUY NOW!!!"

The matrix would have had to be closer to £200 to really tempt me, sub £200 would have been nice but I know that's pushing things a bit so wasn't expecting that.

I thought that too. One part it states under £200 but it's more and hoped for a cheaper Matrix as could've got it cheaper and with more games last week. Still very good prices though.

Hi there

A bit of an error by me on the prices, TOP was too low on stock in the end to offer a sub £200 price.

However tweaked the Matrix Platinum price down, it is now £221.99 which is the cheapest its ever being anywhere. :)

Getting closer in price to making me hit the buy button but think still need to be a little bit lower(£210-£215) and it'd be too difficult to resist :)

Think I'll wait for the 290x then get either it or the gtx780 to replace my 6950 xfire.

OcUK won't be going that low. :)

Mores the shame, my card's at the ready if you decide to lower it :)

Won't happen, we've sold 100's now at much higher price, and the 100 I put on special offer are flying, they will sell out and as our overall stock is getting low with no chance of replenishment the last few shall be going up in price considerably to well over £250 on Monday.

As by end of October we expect to have no 79xx left and the focus will be on the new models which cost more.

Oh well worth a try :)
Having spent best part of a grand in the past couple of weeks think I'll have to hold off on the GPU upgrade. Will give me a chance to see what the 290x has to offer, then can decide on where to go.

Edit: while I've resisted the urge to order the matrix, I've gone and placed preorder for the bf4 290x.

@ Gibbo

Do you have any plans to put the HIS 7950 IceQ boost on offer again, just to clear stock - obviously ??

Please.

Were doing our last offer on it tomorrow, then the 79xx deals will be stopping at OcUK as they are nearly gone and what is left will sell fine at much higher prices, so tomorrow will be your last chance.
