GiffGaff unlimited net/text and 250mins for a tenner?

I also looked into this last week as my contract expires at the end of the month, telephoned O2 to obtain a PAC code to tansfer over my number, was asked why, told them that for £15 on Gifgaff I would be getting a dam site better deal, they agreed and passed me on to cancelations, they then gave me the whole Gifgaff aint all that speach, told me they don't have CS and micro sims etc..., I said fair enough I know what I'm getting in to, they then pause and say, if I give you unlimited calls, text and 1GB data for £15 on a 12 month contract would I be interested?

I was, so OP long story short, tell O2, there are better deals on GG and to match it accordingly.

Plus it's a peace of mind being with O2, however I recieved a letter yesterday stating they are moving over to "Azzuri" or something, anyone shed any more light on this?

Unlimted calls vs 400 mins beats Unlimted data vs 1Gb data for me, on average i only use 350MB a month, plus I dont have the hassle of topping up each month and I get free voicemail :) (like I ever use that)

You don't have to top up each month. They solved that he other month.
Voicemail is free (well part of your free minutes)

12 month contract though, compared to 30 day. That's a heavy price to pay.

He may have been given a new phone with the o2 contract.

GG really need to keep the £10 goodybag as sweet as possible. I don't think 750MB is enough at all. I used 150MB listening to Tunein radio today at work.

It needs to be at least 1 - 1.5GB in the £10 goodybag.

Saying that I will probably stay with GG even if it costs £13. I really like it that 0800 is free and listening to voice messages is part of your bundled minutes.

Saying that though I still think a lot of people will go when they get rid of the unlimited £10 bag. I think that was the main attraction a lot of people migrated (including me and I only got one month out of it )

giffgaff have done microsims for a while too. Sounds like they had you:(

Giffgaff for me is brilliant, never had a single problem with it apart from when O2 had problems, for me £15 for 400 mins plus unlimited text and net, you just can't get a better deal anywere else atm.

I think the £10 and 750mb cap is abit unfair tbh 1GB would have been better, but as i get the £15 goodybag this doesn't effect me yet.

But i do think in the future GG will cap all goodybags as some people will continue abuse it, which just spoils it for the rest of us that don't, my average data usage a months is around 500mb, so doesn't really effect me if they cap all goodybags.

Im thinking about getting giffgaff and keeping my current phone, So incase I want to actually buy a contract I can get the phone I want, and not have to wait 24 months like last time. It says tethering is not allowed, how enforceable is this realistically? and why is it a problem?

Dont you have wifi at work? For me, mobile data is only used when in out and about. I have wifi at work and WiFi at home, so why use data?

Not everyone works in an office, or they have long commutes with no wifi. Or spend lots of time out and about with nothing to do.

Yes, they have no way to tell unless you really start to take the urine.

At least until they implement their improved tethering recognition.

Also they've changed the proposed offerings with the change to the data limit for the £10 goodybag being increased to 1GB with tethering being allowed and a data charge of 2p per 1MB once the allowance has been used, and the proposed £13 goodybag with unlimited internet usage (with no tethering allowed) has had it's price lowered to £12

Just ordered my sim with gg, my contract with 02 finished a while back, had no offers and when I called today the best they could do was,

600mins
Unlimited texts
1Gb of data

For a mighty 31 quid, why would I not move to giff gaff? , my bill has averaged 50 to 90 quid for 24 months
And the lady wouldn't let me go onto the 2gb tariff without putting my minutes to 900+.

02 and their data plans/prices are terrible. The only reason I actually care now is I've moved apartment and their 3g signal is amazing compared to my last address. Giffgaff here I come.

Much better now theyve upped it to 1GB for the £10 goodybag
Wish you could roll over any unused data to the next month though

Seems like a massive drop from unlimited to 1GB... I can understand needing to get rid of unlimited on a cheap tariff and putting it down to 4GB or something as that would stunt abusers but leave most unaffected, but 1GB seems mean...Guess they've just realised they could be milking it a bit more. When my Tesco contract ends next year GiffGaff will probably still offer the best deal for me anyway though.

On a side note, how do providers detect tethering? Now I have a tablet I might well want to try a bit of light web browsing etc, but clearly don't want to get fined if it's easy to get found out.

It's only £12 for unlimited, hardly back braking.

Tethering is interesting.

Why can't they do like 5Gb and tethered for like £12
