Am I right in thinking this is the best provider to go with for unlimited data usage?

I've got my mind set on a nexus 4 and seen giffgaff recommended here. I see they're changing their prices and allowance as of the 6th if November. So am I right in thinking if I buy a sim tonight before midnight, I'll get unlimited data with tethering for a tenner? Compared to £12 and no tethering?

I realise this is probably wrong.

Nope, if you order one today you'll still be on the new prices, everyone will be on the new prices doesnt matter how long youve been a member

the new£10 is 1gb data but you can tether it
the new £12 is unlimited data but no tethering

Ah ok. I thought it said existing customers weren't affected, I knew I read it wrong.

What deal would I need to get for unlimited data with tethering? Is it possible to tether it to an iPad? With a windows laptop, is it simply a case of activating Bluetooth and using that as a modem?

I'm sure about it. I've got many an email after using more than 1Gb per hour or 3Gbp per day... that's how they *detect* tethering at the moment.

that's just greed tho. FUP Tethering ha ha i normally use around 8-9 gig a month

I've read a few threads about 3 detecting tethering do you think they could ever detect it if tethering from phone to tablet? at the end of the day there the same and use the same mobile sites etc

Cheapest for unlimited tethering is Three's Ultimate Internet 200. £12.90/month on a 30 day contract nets you 200 minutes, 5000 texts, all-you-can-eat data. Tethering is an extra at £5/month.

You trying to con people into giving you the £5 credit again koweee ;)

no. got that much in the giffgaff bank i can't use it. been bashing the forum with my wifes account now ha ha.

i normally get 10-20 quid a month and just use it for credit to buy bags. would be better if you could send so much to your paypal and so much for credit.

Not so, the tethering is limited to 1Gb a month.
The only plan with unlimited tethering is the one plan.

Add Tethering

This add-on gives you 1GB of data for tethering and lasts for 30 days

They don't. They just warn you and eventually disable your data access if you use too much data in a small amount of time. It's up to you to prove/plead that you weren't tethering.

And this is why They should not be aloud to use the word Unlimited.

If you can prove that you've just been browsing on your phone then I'm pretty certain they'd let it go. The problem it'd be damn near impossible to use that much unless you're doing something pretty weird, we're talking 0.1% of users.

If you watch a lot of video content (via youtube or wherever)... or download movies/music to watch/listen then it 1GB will be surpassed in a flash.

If you downloaded a file to later use on your PC (or whatever, you could also use it quickly.) 1GB is nothing if you use it as a media portal.

The only way to detect really is to see what browser the user is using when they request pages.
