Worth noting that if you want an incredible package for data and are willing to go on a 12 month contract, you will not be able to beat Three with cashback from TCB or Quidco. The former essentially makes the already-cheap Essential Internet SIM 200 deal half price (£41 or so for 12 months). Add £3 a month for AYCE data, and you're still at around half the price of GG.

Giffgaff were great but the reliability problems along with Three being so competitive have given me little reason to stay. Been with Three for a month and they're fine.

As for Three tethering, while they technically don't allow you to tether without an addon/The One Plan, I've tethered off my iPhone with no problems.
 
I spent a whole summer using a Three mobile BB connection to play Xbox and Team Fortress 2 online - worked most of the time. Ping was no higher than my crappy countryside internet connection is now.
 
Sorry for being thick but I don't understand how the goodybags work? I can't see anywhere on site to actually buy one? Do I just top up by that amount and it automatically works?
 
Can anyone explain what tethering covered, I thought this stopped making your phone a hotspot, being able to connect your tablet etc via the phone. Or was I wrong on that?

I'll activate my sim and let you know. Just got to ring up and cancel my O2 contract now. Can I do that over the phone?

Only the new Goodgybag at 1Gb.
The £10 goodybag (unlimited) that is being phased out this month, does not have tethering. If they suspect you of tethering they will block your sim.
 
anyone having data issues at the moment? I seem to get emails every now and then but can't connect to the internet.

Edit - nevermind - battery pull seems to have sorted it.
 
ive just got a giffgaff sim and cant get it to work in my phone (htc desire) i know the phone is unlocked as ive tried it with a 3 and 02 sim which work ok, i contracted giffgaff and they say all is ok at their end,

anyone got any idea why the sim wont work

Try the sim in another phone. Process of elimination.

My Giffgaff sim didn't work in my iPhone 4 straight away, it was reporting 'No SIM' I took it out & put it back in a couple of times and then it worked.
