Gigabyte Aorus Extreme noisy?

Ever since gigabyte went to that fan design with the 1080 xtreme there's been issues with it. The "x" frame being bowed inwards causing fans to clip off one another being one of them. The others would be high coil whine, and the card crashing at its factory oc settings. The vids sound to be either coil whine or yet another fan clearance issue.

That is a fan clearance issue you have. i have a aorus 1080 ti and mine made the same noise out of the box with high fan speeds when i first installed it. i just applied some gentle pressure to frame above the fans with my finger and the noise went away. four months later and still its not returned.

Ok, one more vid. This time with noise made while in a game and then manually turning the fans on to full....it isn't a fan issue. You don't get the same noise with the fans going full pelt as you do when playing a game at 2K/4K. I appreciate the advice but I'd already stated early on in the thread that I don't get the noise when manually turning the fans up full so I think we can put it to bed now that it's not the fans catching the frame.

Just out of curiosity. Its not the PSU is it?

Make a paper funnel and listen around the case to verify its the card and not something else like the psu above.

The cooler master GX's are known for being trash.

Tried that, it's hard to distinguish. New PSU will be here tomorrow so we will see, thanks all who responded and offered advice. I've not told the wife I've spent another £100 :-)

May try the new & old PSU out of the case so it's easier to tell where the sound is coming from. It certainly sounds like coil whine, but that pitch would suggest to me a PSU rather than the GPU.

But both are possible culprits.

New PSU installed and problem fixed, quiet as a mouse now. Thanks all for your advice, much appreciated!:D

Good one mate :)

PSU quality is always the main factor for coil whine. Especially now with high end cards consuming more electricity, is becoming all more obvious.

Enjoy that great Aorus Xtreme, I have the same and loving it. So quiet even under very heavy load.

Thanks, in hindsight should have got the new PSU to begin with. My whole system just seems to be running that much better. The Aorus is a beast, got every game running in 4K and as you say, it's so quiet. Definately money well spent (still trying to convince the Mrs of that!)
