Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P Flat QD-OLED: 32" 4K 240Hz with DisplayPort 2.1, KVM

Found a cable but HDMI isn't the issue. Gsync still refuses to engage on the Pendulum demo. Can take a video of a game if that's of use.
Not sure that will confirm if it's Gsync being used (in a game)
...unless there's an OSD on the monitor showing the monitor Hz and game FPS and run a game like Bodycam. Maxed out the FPS will be low in parts (20s, 30s, 40s) with the OSD on the monitor showing the refresh rate syncing to the game FPS. If its using Gsync properly, both should almost always match 1:1 (as my Gsync IPS screen does)

From my understanding all the gsync compatible 32" 240hz OLEDs only support VRR down to 48hz

You can see this on the list here https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/products/g-sync-monitors/specs/

Some of the odd ones that say they support down to 40hz is really only down to 48hz

Like the AW3225QF says 40-240hz but from what i have seen posted it really 48-240hz so take some of these VRR numbers with a large pinch of salt :cry::cry::cry:

Sorry I have the Asus OLED as i was kind of expecting all the different brands of 32" 240HZ OD-OLED's to work the same

I been doing more tests with this G-Sync demo and noticed only the the G-SYNC 60FPS/60hz works properly
When you choose the 50fps test the monitor runs at 100hz instead of 50hz :(

(See my post above where i said to take the low gsync compatible numbers with a large pinch of salt)

So running these tests
With G-sync off = 240hz in all fps tests

G-Sync 0n =
60fps = 60HZ
50fps = 100hz
40fps = 80hz

yes it does support VRR without issues. Gsync used to be the proprietary name by nVidia of the same technology.
Its not the same technology. VRR also has flicker with all OLEDs - this is the reason im not buying an OLED and replacing my native gsync monitor.

@SBR99 I would wait for Gsync pulsar tech in monitors - https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/s/Mk3H00FsTp

Nvidia are stopping production of native gsync monitors that come with modules (all gsync ultimate and gsync monitors) due to cost.

I can’t say for sure myself (yet) but the perception I have had is that VRR flicker can be largely mitigated via sensible use of the monitor.

If your frame rate is swinging from 140-160fps for example, that might cause ugly VRR flicker, but you can just cap it at 135fps.

The motion clarity of an OLED is supposedly ~50% better than LCD, so that 135fps on an OLED is more like 190fps experience on an LCD.

There’s some info of it here:

Or, as alternatives, you can use a strobing mode (EMLB). Imperfect, because this will reduce some brightness / remove HDR.

Or, if your FPS is high enough, you can get rid of VRR entirely (setting a max FPS cap to taste). The refresh rate is so quick that tearing is less of an issue.

Further mitigations involve settings / hardware that minimise 1% lows.

Obviously, it’s all a trade off. I’ll share my experiences in due course.

Was thinking about buying this for £900 or getting the Xiaomi Mini LED G Pro 27 Inch 1440p for £260.

Now this has gone back up to £1100 and I've missed the deal. I've ordered the Xiaomi now but not sure if I'm gonna regret this.

Feels kinda stupid having a 5080 for 1440p but some people say you can't really see the difference at 27 inch

I mean…. you definitely can, in my opinion.

Obviously, it makes a bit more of an immediately difference on a larger screen. Or at least I presume so… I have a 1440p 32” screen and it looks terrible :p

Whether you prefer the higher resolution or the higher frames… that’s a much more subjective question. You can browse through some games here and get an idea of what the difference in FPS.

So long as you are hitting your minimum FPS sweet spot then you’re all good (90 FPS for me, personally).

Xiaomi got delivered today so I'm gonna try it out tomorrow.

I'm currently looking at the Alienware AW2725QF as an alternative as it's 4k. £530 vs the £260 1440p Xiaomi

I think I can't get an OLED as I have to game in a bright room and also get a lot of glare with my current monitor when it is sunny outside.

It's a tough choice!

I tried at the Xioami 1440p today...

I feel like I could tell the difference between 4k and 1440p even at 27 inch. And the FPS jump from 60fps to 180 was nice but not really a big deal for me considering I only play RPGs really(right now Kingdom Come 2). Not really a big difference like 30fps to 60fps. I also kept getting screen tearing and tried enabling G-Sync but couldn't fix it so just switched back to my old monitor in frustration.

Think I prefer having the crisp 4k resolution vs the higher FPS.

The weird thing is I've tried both the Gigabyte M32U Curved and the Xioami G Pro 27i now and still prefer my old monitor.

honestly - it's a non issue. it shows up when you first launch a game. Nothing during gameplay or work, so it's a no issue.
the upsides of having an OLED far outweight this small issue. up to you (:

and it is the exact same tech. different name. gsync had a separate chip on the monitor for while - but it's fundamentally the same tech.

You definitely can! Hell I went from 1600p to a 2400p screen on my 16" laptop and the difference was very noticeable. My eyesight is still great (:
I wouldn't go less than 2160p for a 27" - if you use it for productivity / text. If it's mostly gaming / movies, that's another story.
