Gigabyte DS3 rev 1 (I think) & Q6600 G0

I can, if anyone is interested, do some tests and screenshots over the weekend.

I've currently got a P965-DS3 with a 6420 in it. I've got a Q6600 B3 to hand, I'm expecting a Q6600 G0 and a X3210 (fingers crossed its a G0 too!) tommorow.

I've got a TThermaltake BigTyp 120 VX air cooler on there now which keeps the 6420 at 3.32Ghz and 43C under Prime95.

I've also got a P35-DSR3 coming with that and a whole PA120.2 watercooling rigs worth of components. So I think I should be able to cover all the bases.

Who could be bothered to read throug a mega-test like that? It would probably have to be in installments over the week along with my build log of the watercooled rig.

But hey.. what wrong with that :)

Yip please.

I wanna see what this F12 BIOS can do. From looking at the Gigabyte site it came out a couple of days after I bought my P35-DS3P

Yes Please!!
Would be interested to see what results you get with the P965-DS3 (do you happen to know what rev. it is??) and the Q6600 G0 stepping.
Kind of between selling my whole rig and purchasing a new one but if the results are favourable I will just stick a quad in my current rig and it should last me at least another year.

I have a pretty good DS4 P965....which does 500+ with core2duo but the best i can get out of Quad is around 390fsb prime....400fsb is pi stable only....prime.... not a chance.

And you think thats bad? On Air?

Heres my Q6600 out of the box in my P965-DS3 Rev. 1

Started off at 3.0 which it did on stock volts, then 3.2 on stock, one core failed prime after two hours so then I bit the bullet and went for 3.4Ghz as that was what I had my E6420 at with 1.45V

Tried at 1.4V but again same core died after 30 minutes, so popped it up to 1.45 and here she is just after starting. vdroop isn't too bad either.

Wonder what the big fuss is about, I can see maybe having to go for a P35 if you really want to get those last few hundred mhz for the penultimate overclock, but for a mid to high overclock like 3.2 or 3.4 I think you would do well to keep your 965-DS3 or DS4 Rev 1 :)

Missed this.

Nice to see F12 taking the rev 1.0 upto the levels of the better P965 boards :)

No...not complaining lol...already tried a p35 board got me to 4ghz not bad for a 65 quid board but between the nasty vdroop and being on air...a bit pointless really...could run @ 3.6ghz on air but was not happy using more vcore than necessery when idle and for a few more mhz....much prefer to use my DS4 with half the vdroop than the Abit.:D
