Gigabyte EX58-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard

I'd love to get my hands on another X58-UD3R mobo, got a Xeon chip sitting doing nowt and a Pc upstairs still ticking over with one @ a solid 4Ghz overclock...I have another PC which could benefit from a CPU refresh. Would just need RAM then.

EX58-UD5 still my main system always wanted to try a different CPU in this board just don't know which one to choose.

Still using this mobo as main system with 930 OC at 3.6 as temps too high at 4.0. Upgraded the original 6gb of RAM and the 5870 to a 7950 and now a 1070 with gsync 27" 1440p from a very old 24" 1080p horrid samsung panel. 1tb SSD upgrade too from the original 60gb ssd several years ago when they were cheap. PC still runs too well to consider the expense for upgrade of mobo cpu and ram

why dont you buy a X5650 or X5675 they range from £20-£35. Will give you six cores, cooler temps and they overclock to 4.4 very easy and will give you a good boost in performance when gaming with your GTX1070.

I also still have two X58 system, just love the platform, still performing like a champion. One sytem is UD3r and the other a UD5r

That does look tempting, maybe the next upgrade

interested to know if anybody running one of these xeon's on air, what speed you running and the max temps you get. I've got a Megahalems Rev B in a Antec 902 case, would need a new case to fit a 240/360 AIO as I wouldn't want it outside the case

My work PC I'm currently using has this board. Just over 9 Years and counting. :)

Mainly used for Indesign other Adobe design software, with some MS office action.

Does the job just as fast as a 2016 imac. :O

I bought a cheap 90mm Xigmatek cooler to get it up and running while I decided on an AIO.

It coped fine with the chip at 4Ghz but a tad noisy (as you'd expect) when it ramped up.

I have no doubts a 120mm+ decent cooler would have no problem with the chip running at 4.4Ghz.

Your cooler will be fine.

I've had my x58 a while and it was a fantastic system, only changed it as I fancied a Ryzen and a more modern platform with latest SATA, USB and PCIE3. My x5650 is now sat in my Asus P6T Deluxe v2 having a rest :) If I could see the members market I'd stick it in there lol
