Gigabyte goes cooling crazy with 'Extreme' P45 motherboard

Its like there is a race to see who can make the most crazy looking chipset cooling system.

Whats next - web cams that are inside your case to show off your hardware to the rest of the world?

not a lot of good with only one 16x slot

I guess its ok if you don’t want to crossfire or aren’t that fussed about max performance if you do...

Nice to see a decent amount of USB ports on the rear, 2 headers inside and 3 firewire headers. Ive never used Firewire. Shame they still have a floppy connector. Seems pointless.

Never used firewire myself either, and I've had 3 motherboards (including current) that support it. On the other hand floppy connectors ***! :D I still have a floppy drive in my system (granted don't use it much but, its handy)

I guess its price dependent but my only slight issue with it would be the fact that there is only four SATA ports, with the number of drives that use sata nowadays, I would expect six to be the norm - since if you want to RAID thats two gone, and DVDrom/RW drives are now SATA more often than not.

Major Gripe is the colour scheme I mean, Red, blue, yellow, green and orange :(.... I understand the premise of colour co-ordinating things but blergh this makes me feel queasy

8 USB ports on back but no firewire? Strange decision from Gigabyte, given that they were the first to put 800mbit firewire on their boards...

Ah ok I only noticed the 4... must be the garish colours :D

On a side note, all I wrote was eff tee Double- u in the phrase below (as in 4 the win) would some kind soul enlighten me as to why the filter thinks it is a profanity? Or is there another abbreviation that my innocent little self is unaware of? :p
Edit:-- t e h gets *** as well... deary me!

Wow that is one wacky looking cooling solution, which alright, does give the board some bling bling, but for anyone who knows about these things it's just totally pointless surely!?

At least it being removable is an option!

I think this is designed to be run outside of a case, i.e. extreme benchmarking... it's not intended for 'normal' installations. It's the same deal with the FOXCONN BLACKOPS mobo.
