Gigabyte RTX 3090 Turbo - just died on me

I took the card apart nothing looks like it is burned, nothing looks like it has discoloration or out of ordinary look to it, the gpu itself looks perfect no crack no chips textbook look. If i had to complain the thermalpaste is a little dry thermalpads oily-like. GDDRx chips all look alike i don't see the reason why this card would not start

You just make out that you're the buyer. If they quiry the address then say you have moved house etc.

In this case, can anyone lend me his GV-N3090TURBO-24GD receipt :D
Of course I will try to repay

You'd have to test it with a multimeter as the point of failure may not be visible, maybe worth taking some hi-res pics and posting them up though incase anyone can spot something amiss.

We are starting to talk about component level board repair, that would definitely void the warranty. Still hope that there is a good samaritan that will reach @PM

You have another PC to try the 3090 in?
What PSU is powering it and how have you connected the GPU to the PSU? 2 dedicated cables from separate PCIe PSU connections?
Could be the PSU packed up on the delivery side?

Feel for ya ;)

Well realistically you have few options

Try and track down the guy who sold you the card and see if you can get the original receipt.

See if gigabyte will do an out of warranty repair which they will obviously charge you for.

Find someone who can attempt to repair it for you.

Cut your loses and sell the card as spares / repairs.

I provide component level repair services, and there are a few realy good component lever repair ppl in poland. Just get it fixed. By the description it souls like an easy 10 min diagnostics and 20 min fix by replacing few components.

As for warranty, i hope you learned the lesson on second-hand market. U simply don't buy such expensive electronics items on second-hand market.

I am more than happy to reach out to them if You would be so kind to point them, I would more than gladly pay to get that card fixed.

It is easy to judge if You have a choice. Mine was between used RTX 3090 and RTX A6000. I could take a 10 year student loan which Lloyds (or HSBC or any bank in that manner) in Covid era are more than happy to give but the supply in early january was an issue. I had to produce results in order to pass and believe me it was a struggle. The constraints of given hardware and collocation hardly narrowed down my options. Believe me even Nvidia after my promoter intervened showed me the middle finger pointing to a 2 month long queue to a6000 with the other hand.
I consider myself lucky to get a grant that partially covered the bill for one of those cards, the other one was paid from hard physicall work. Even more lucky that in the shortage era i could find 2 blower cards that fit those immoderate needs. It is my hallmark that on the last leg **** goes full FUBAR.

Have you an actual pc to try the card in? Tried the card in another pcie slot? Tried different PSU or cables? Tried another card in the system?

As others have said ideally you’d want to have it repaired. The only way really is to test the card with a multimeter and go from there. GPU pcb’s are quite simple to diagnose but they are difficult to solder/desolder if you don’t know what you are doing/have the proper tools.

Best IMO if it is completely dead to send it to someone who knows what they are doing to repair the card, could be a simple fix.

Another unhappy gigabyte user wouldn't touch another one of there cards ever .

You wot m8? If you buy retail they come with 4 years warranty.

Therefore you use for up to 4 years and sell before warranty runs out if you want to be cautious.

I'm sure for every unhappy user like yourself and OP there are many many more and multiples of happy users. You could get unlucky with any card from anywhere that's why warranty is worth a lot. I would never buy an out of warranty card unless it was dirt cheap. This was obviously not the case here and he's learning that lesson now.

Lets be honest. Its that. He spunked his entire grant money on a mining rig and is now owned.

So good that the rep that was on here has done one. Gigabyte products have definitely gone down quality wise in my opinion.
