Gillette

Ive used the fusion razor a few times since getting a free one through the post. Have to admit its a nice shave compared to my mach3 razor, a lot more comfier and closer imho. But only thing is the blade is much too big so trying to shape up a goatee is near enough impossible. Definitely like the blade at the back for those hard to reach areas on my face.

But i think ill just stick with my battery powered mach3 razor as thats not so big and clumsy to use.

Tesco twin bladed, swivel head disposables - £1.49 for ten. Used with cheapo hair conditioner instead shaving cream/gel etc :D Honestly gives just as good a shave as the more expensive options I have tried over the years.

I use Gillette's disposable CustomPlus Pivot Razors - a pack of 10 for around £3.50. I usually buy a few packs to last me a long time..if it works, it works!

I still use my trusty Sensor too. Can be a bit hard to find the replacement blades but the Sensor Excel blades fit just as well. Had it for about 13 years now.

I've used the original Mach 3 for ages. Just got a M3 nitro out of curiosity. Its exactly the same but vibrates. Can't really see much point. I guess the vibrations just add a bit of lateral movement to help cut the hair cleanly.

The only problem the black and green colouring makes it look cheap and the fatter handle (due to the battery) isn't as nice as the original M3.

For me its still the original metal and black M3 for the win.

As for battery operated razors, as people have metioned - it's a gimmick.

Gillette warrant the use of a battery operated razor for different reasons, making a selling point to the target audience. For instance, on Fusion and M3 power razors, the "micropulses" apparently lift the hair away from the face.

However, vibrations for women apparently exfoliate the skin. Basically it does sweet FA, but it's all about advertising.

Gillette backed fusion with 50mil at launch and blade sales before the UK launch were shown to flop compared to M3 blades over the pond.

What battery comes with the Gillette razors? Duracell, hmm thats funny Duracell and Gillete are both owned by P&G.

Those using Quattro:

I work for Wilkinson sword, but I don't try to convince people to buy one for that reason. A few years ago instead of buying Mach3 blades, I opted for a Quattro razor plus four free blades promotion. Didn't think much to Quattro at all, and went back to the M3.

However, Quattro Titianium isn't just Quattro coated in Titanium - the blades are 30% closer which solves the tug and pull problem I personally found with Quattro.

I have sensitive skin and almost every disposable or system razor has gave me razor rash. With Titanium and Nivea Sensitive Shaving Gel, this has been cured thankfully.

Titanium heads fit the past Quattro, and Quattro midnight handles, so no need to replace the handle.

I've been using the new powered Fusion razor and love it. It gives me the cleanest shave yet! (though beforehand, I was using the deposable Bic razors)

I have patented my 18 blade razor system, it's unbeatable.

Unless somebody else comes out with a 19 blade razor system. :o

I don't get the benefits of these uber razors. I have tried them but go back to my trusty Wilkinson Sword disposable ones and at 10 for £3 I have found them the best cost option.

disposable ones are the work of the robot devil.

i guess its like peoples reliance upon a brand. i tried wilkinson sword a long time ago, it head a heavy head which sat perfectly against my skin, no extra pressure needed. but then they moved on, the next gen razors were not nice, hence the move to gillette, since then i have been happy, found the m3 nitro to be the best razor i have used (i never paid for it, so didnt need to justify my mind that it was good).
bought a fusion power one today, will give it a go tomorrow and see if its any better :]

I find the quattro to be the best blade i have tried (tried them all), but it did tug every now and then.....will have to try the titanium ones.

Peoples skin, stubble growth in terms of thickness and direction are so different that not every razor will go down well with everyone.

I think if you find something you are happy with, stick with it. Blades tend to stick around for years before being given the axe.

I swear by the Wilkinson Sword FX Performer with diamond blades. They last ages, and are so incredibly dangeously sharp, even by razor standards. I tried to use the Mach 3 thingy, but ended up with loads of chavtastic adidas-esque 3 stripe cuts on my chin.

Razor adverts are just getting ridiculous - 'Max Pro Extra Ultra...uh...Three!'.

However, I am intrigued by the Fusion - I've read enough here, though, to make me realise it's just too expensive.

I've lasted this long with a Mach 3 and the odd disposable, so it ain't going to change my life or prompt an attractive lady to sensuously stroke my chin as an obvious precursor to animalistic bonking.

Much as I would like it to. Then 11 quid for four blades would be a good deal.

/me looks.... think I have a mach 3, but not one with a battery or anything fancy. I like it, does a good shave.

I could never get on with electric ones, they never seemed to do the job properly.
I bought an electric shaver a few years back that did the job properly - but it cost £130. I tried some cheaper ones and they weren't very good. I've had it about 3 years and I need to replace it now.

It's a lot of money, but packs of blades for a razor soon add up to a lot of money. I'm not sure which is cheaper, though you're out of pocket a lot more if you don't like the electric shaver or it doesn't do the job well.
