Gin

What's with all the "lime" ****? if I recently asked for a G&T in my local bar and got a wedge of Lime .... WTF? it should be Lemon; they had no Lemon so I left it on the bar without paying.

Now, going back many years ...... Gin and Orange (undiluted cordial) was the thing; introduced it to quite a few people recently (male and female) and they all liked it .... one can use any Gin too, so cheaper.

that's hilarious - you spat your dummy because they served you a G&T the way it is meant to be served and the way it tastes best, rather than the barstardisation that british pubs serve to avoid stocking more than one variety of citrus fruit. Good for you! You stick with your gin and squash:p

a regular Gin drinker here, Bombay Sapphire, then Gordons for me. good measure with ice and lemon/lime and long on tonic water in tall glass

The best Gin you can get is Hendricks. With cucumber, ice, and tonic water.

Tanqueray 10 is a nice alternative, but if Hendricks is available, thats your G&T.

Never tried Hendricks. I've checked the bottle out but it's rather expensive. Just looking at the wiki page and it reckons it should be drunk 50/50 gin/tonic?

Only two Gin's i've ever really liked: Bombay Sapphire with Lemonade and dash of lime; Tanquaray (either) with the same.

Yes i know many of you consider it blasphemy, but i just can't get away with Tonic.

Need to try some Plymouth based off the recommendations here.

SOUTH Gin - lush - best gin I've had - completely smooth.

PLymouth / Bombay here, we find Gordons very harsh indeed. It has to be schweppes(sp?) for the tonic. Oh and yes we keep it in the freezer as well !

Crikey, not sure about that!

Using a tall tumbler I'd reckon a generous single or double gin measure, ice, cucumber and top up with tonic. Yes its more expensive, but worth it :).

Anyone ever tried Genevar? (dutch gin iirc)
Had some neat at the campsite bar in the middle of amsterdam many years ago. The guy who ran the place said all the locals drink it and it's available from the shop round the corner hehe ...unfortunately I was skint by the time I had to leave so never got some.
Not ever seen it for sale in the UK, except on specialist web-sites, and there's lots of different 'blends' too apparently.

Well, Bombay Sapphire was on special offer at my supermarket (£20 for 1 litre, usually £25) so I got that. Also got some cans of Schweppes' Indian Tonic water, a lime and an ice cube tray.

Looking forward to chilling out tomorrow evening with a nice G&T :D

Here here, lime all the way!

I am partial to a Gordon's, Tanqueray (10) or Beefeater 24, make it strong (1:1 is crazy though, 1:2 gin to tonic is about right), plenty of ice and Schweppes tonic is perfect.

We made sloe gin last year, its lovely but far removed from the base spirit.

I would love to try some from this list.
