Gixxer advice

lovely bike, have abit of a weak spot for the old srads, and they sound fruity as hell with race pipe :)

you are gonna have a whole heap of fun, 150mph superbike with supercar smashing acceleration for £1700 quid, you can't argue with that...your gonna love it :)

Wise words. I was travelling back from Wolverhampton last week with my girlfriend on the M62 when some idiot on a gixxer flew past us at 80+ mph wearing shorts, vest, trainers and helmet. The mind boggles.

Even if he doesn't fall off, just think of your bare skin hitting a bee at 80+.

Ouch! :p

Congrats on your purchase. :)

I still would never buy something I couldn't test myself - ok I've ridden a gixxer 600 before, but they all feel slightly different with how well they've been looked after, fettled with etc...

But it's your money and certainly looks good.

Enjoy it and good luck with your test. :)
I completely agree and it isn't something I'd normally do, but for £1700 is a risk I don't mind taking.

He actually lived on a cul-de-sac and asked me if I wanted to take it out but I declined. Would have cacked my knickers I think lol. I thought it was quite intimidating just sat there burbling away so I watched him take it out instead. :o

He's bringing it round tomorrow much to the displeasure of his wife who has to follow. :D So I'm off out on the search for a stand in a minute.

Hehe they hurt on leathers nevermind bare skin, flys hitting my neck at 80 sting enough lol.

Flies are my nemesis when they hit my neck! It's always a nice treat to check out your nose-cone once you've been for a nice long ride in the countryside and discuss your 'big kills' with your mates!

haha Im always finding bees in the grill of the intake :p im always looking and crying at the stone chips on my nosecone/headlight/screen lol, id rather stay in front now lol front of my bike is dinged to hell :(

I hope you enjoy it.

I would recommend a track day though. It will teach you as much about the bike in 1 hour than 6 months on the road would.

So I'm off out on the search for a stand in a minute.

just to confirm, this bike HAS a stand right? But you're looking to buy a paddock stand or somesuch?

if it doesnt have a stand, it screams race bike

one thing to note
if you drop a gixxer, to repair, you will be buying the most expensive plastic in the world.

i reckon the odds of dropping a bike a slightly higher when a newbie.

just a point

Looks like a nice tidy bike.

Personally I'd recommend an ABBA stand over paddock ones, but you should invest in R&G crash bungs first :)

so more expensive than Ducati, Aprilia, Bimota and a few others i could list?

Besides which, if cost is an issue, get pattern fairing...

CBT is booked for next Wednesday. :D

They said I'm looking at about £650-700 for the whole thing providing it's a first time pass. A bit more than I wanted to pay really but they sounded good. All the others in the area are pretty similar in price too.

I've already been and ended up with this:

Looks like part of a tent and those hooks don't look to strong either.

get a k1 looks far better than the SRAD

And it was my first bike after my DAS and I had never even ridden before!

Take it easy and you will be fine, oh and be prepared to drop it lol

I picked up a 2nd hand panel for £145 but they are around £300 new
edit

I had the same stand it was a safe as houses (once you master the getting it up and down off the stand on your tod)

SRAD = wayyyyy more sexier than a k1! Deffo get some R&G crash bung, but don' worry too much if you drop it as there is tons of fairings on ebay at dirt cheap prices!

I'll take flies anyday to the kamikaze pigeon i had yesterday, cruising at 85 along a nice A road, damn bird lands in road front of me, i change line so i dont hit it, thing takes flight in my direction and i duck just in time to stop it taking my head off, it just scraped the top of my helmet :D
