Gixxer advice

I like SRADs, I'd have said get an old CBR600F if you have to have a sports bike, they're indestructible and cheap... But the SRAD 600 still isn't a bad choice. Some people need a slow bike to rein them in when they're new, others don't, that's just something you'll find out yourself. Just take it easy for the first 20 years and you'll be fine :D But definately do get crash bungs, they're not just for the big crashes, they're also for when you don't put the stand down right, or you put your foot in a pothole at the traffic lights, or someone reverses into it when it's parked. Good ones make all the difference.

get a bandit 600 or a hornet 600, basically de-tuned and no fairing versions of their sportsbike sisters (gix and CBR)

No Bandit's ever had a detuned GSXR engine, the original was based around the GSX600F engine. It's got some GSXR750 DNA from the but it's by no means a GSXR engine. And the new one's purpose built for the Bandit.

Correct, but was talking as a similarity and anyone that buys a new bandit needs their heac checking!. But you're wrong saying no bandits ever had a GSXR engine, check the 1200 :)

Gah, you got me :D I kinda like the new Bandit, I had one as a courtesy bike and it's good at what it does. But I'd still never buy one. Or an old one for that matter, it makes no sense when hornets and SVs are just as cheap and miles better.

Slighty better picture now I've got it:

Can see those wheels beeing a PITA to keep clean!

It's also caused a slight upset with some of the family thinking it's a gonna be a deathtrap. :/

Yeah they're on the list (which seems to be getting longer by the day).

Yup white wheels are a pain! The ones on my Tlr take a year to clean when they are covered in chain lube and the like. Still they look cracking when clean! Looks a lush bike, hope that zorst is nice n loud ;P

Very tidy. I never really liked the styling of the SRADs but that's probably because I grew up with the older gixxers.
Keep it in the road and enjoy the handling :)

Quick tip in regards to the wheels, make sure you use Chain wax instead of oil/lube and you won't end up with filthy wheels 30 seconds after you wash and oil your bike.
