There's a 40bhp@7500 rpm gx390 on eBay now for £750.00
*searches*

Ive been following this, good work and should be a load of fun! On a side note, youve made me what to record the work on my escort. What are you using to edit your vids?
Premiere Pro mate. Just easy to use and my son uses it too so it's a group sub :)

We are so close... got the engine on finally. Paid 57 euros in import fees... after a 6 week wait and 80 dollar shipping? **** that next time. I have just this week found an EU supplier. Typically just found it... anyway, it's on. We made some space and then broke the chain tool so couldn't get the ******* chain on...!

Got a friend coming over at the weekend to help with his motorbike tool and I'm hoping we can give it a whirl... maybes!

This thing is MEGA fun. Few issues with it. Some rubbing on sprocket / frame. I've got an idea for that though. Should be fine! Second is, it's running a bit rough, think due to the new aftermarket airfilter drawing in more air, so need to change the air/fuel mix. Then I can do a proper lap around our marked out track.

I have some studs coming for the new exhaust, too. That should be fun. Maybe some aftermarket parts too... get it running spot on then more speed. It's not slow AT ALL! I need a helmet tbh haha crapped myself.

Kicked off Number 2. Cadet kart, so better suited size wise for the kids. Hopefully have an electric start LIFAN 168 (200cc small block) coming for it. Got some bargain parts lined up, and have some bits on the way. Hoping it won't take as long for things to arrive and get it rolling! I have a friend who's kids want to come help put it together too, so will try and make it a real group effort.

We did some tweaks to the main kart at the weekend as well before having to go to a BBQ and between rain showers, but knocked off nearly all the niggles it had. Just sort the idle out now and the brakes... I might have to do a refurb on them completely. I can't get the bleed screws out the caliper, so may be easier to replace. Will see! New ep of that one coming up.

I took out the main kart for some rips as we've fixed the brakes, so will be doing more with that soon! I am waiting on helmets to arrive... I hit 54kph and crapped my pants!

We also carried on with some more kid build!

Did some more this weekend, too. This was in the week. Slowly moving forward, as per waiting on post and stuff!

Did some more, got some more on order.

Went down and did some runs in the OG kart, which is still cutting out on fast corners, so think it's time to go uprated carb and external fuel tank/ pump! Either way, need to get some more parts as per!

We also sorted the brakes out on the OG and got a few things sorted.
That cutting out is annoying the hell out of me and getting a good run, so I ordered a new upgraded carb, cam, rod and valve springs. Dropping the guvenor should give me rev to about 6k with the mods compared to 3500rpm.

Also having an issue where the seat is still just pressing just onto the clutch, so will add a bit of reinforced alu on the inside and some foam to make it a bit safer etc. Will also try and get the seat more over and maybe when the engine is back off, slip it 5-10mm to the side. Little things but it's doing OK. Should be rapid when I add all these parts.

On top of that, I'm trying to source a really cheap (like 50quid max) couple of bikes so I can buy cheap ass 80cc 2 stroke eBay engines to fit and do a wine tour around the area :D tempted to ride them to Amsterdam...

Nice work. I'd love to buy a kart and go racing, but that's not going to happen unless I start getting paid an awful lot more. Need to at least get back in a hire kart soon though.

I want to try and get these out to a local outdoor track when they're both all built up.

I've got the new carb here for the OG which should give it a lot more go! I need to remove the governor to get the revs past 3.5k, but in doing so want to also relocate the petrol tank under the steering column. I have the pump, pipe work, I am just waiting on the tank and filter to come. That said, I have a basket full on the kart site that has new cam, crank, valve springs, billet retainers, billet flywheel and rod... which sounds like it should be some fun! lol I will buy it a bit at a time and then rebuild the whole block I think. Stage 3 should rev to about 7500rpm with the cam I've chosen and should be talking more like 25hp compared to the 9hp it came with.

We took apart the OG kart as it's been named, new parts to go on this one! Well, I've asked for a new lairy cam, HD valve springs and billet flywheel for christmas/ birthday. See if I get any... otherwise I'll be buying them myself :D

Then we took out the Cadet...

Trying to make the most of this second damn lockdown!

It’s good to see you and your son enjoying it together.
Ha thanks man. You know, that makes it worth everything. He turned to me the other day after one of these, think the broken brake one and was like, "Dad, I'm really sorry I broke that..." I said it was fine, we brake we fix we learn! It's good fun! He said "I'm so glad you got these for us to build, it's been the most fun..."
That's something he'll keep with him forever, and it makes me happy.
