Go on, have your say - why me?

Tbh i didnt like the title you gave that IT up the arse thread, but i didnt see it as a personal attack so i let it off, However other people in the same job as me were not pleased and i could understand why, i mean would you like it if we said your head is up your arse! however i could see you were annoyed so i let it go, which is what more people need to do around here!

All your other posts have been quite insightfull though :D

Ive never had a problem with you the time ive been her.
Never found you patronising, just thought you were another poster.

Ive probably thought, "what an idiot," at some of your posts, but tbh, ive probably done that with a lot people, and im sure a lot of people here have done it to me as well.

And yeah, taking time to e-mail stuff like that is pretty darn pathetic.

I've given up letting you get on my nerves, but you're just one of those people who really does. Since you asked, it's mainly the "I've seen X band Y number of times", "I have the limited edition dvd" type posts. I'm sure it's just my inference, but you constantly seem to be showing off or trying to illustrate how worldly you are.

Don't think it's ever bothered me enough to mail you abuse about it, though.

I remember a time when posts of that type were preceded with a request for bragging rights (although it might have been worded differently). :)

So go on, have your say, why can't I have my say without some posters having a dig?

Looks like paranoia to me. My qualm with you in the other thread is that you posted absolute tripe and then backed it up with "my daughter had a phobia and it was worse than your's so your's isn't real". I don't care who posts that rubbish but it needs to be recognised that it is rubbish.

Sorry if getting called up when you have posted nonsense means that the whole forum is against you. This of course doesn't mean that I will assume every post you make is rubbish because that would be silly. It just means that you posted rubbish in a thread.

EDIT: It also won't be the start of some sort of vindictive grudge against you.

You may recall I asked the forums a basic maths question to help with my daughters home work. Must have been about 2 years ago now. Anyway, I got really slated and told that I should be ashamed for not knowing. I got posts saying I'm not exactly a good father figure. I even received a few abusive emails. However, apart from a few people here, no one knows me personally or what I’m like as a person. So I take it on the chin and treat it as ignorance.

You are losing it old man! That was definitely within the last 14 months! ;)

i have never recieved any abusive emails from here thankfully.

dont see why people do it  never seen any people that i hate or dislike on here

Paranoia?

For me it's the way you come across as others have previously mentioned. Each thread you make it starts off with you more or less bragging (or trying to) about something in you're life.Everyone on this forum will have members who get on their nerves and i guess each of us will be one of them to another member.

As for making this thread i don't think you are doing yourself any favours it'll most prob make the situation worse you should have just quietly emailed a Don to let them sort out the members who are going for you via email.

Agree with both points there, its a huge forum there will always be people who do not get on and yes, should have just mailed a Don instead of starting another thread asking for an ear bashing in GD.

You never struck me as particularly arrogant or suchlike. I thought that your "all IT bods are arrogant asses" thread was a gross generalisation and pretty unfair, but then such generalisations are commonplace on the internet. It's natural for people to want to box others into predefined catagories that they can denegrate.

Then again, I don't post much in this forum. I spend more time on the tech forums (graphics cards, CPUs, etc).

Oh, i thought i sent you one a couple of weeks ago? I knew it didn't send properly ;)

Seriously though, i think people on here take things far too seriously, whether it be about muslims, students, I.T. guys, music tastes or whatever.

This is not how it works on the forums. When people disagree, they take it personally or don't except the fact that everyone is entitled to an opinion. Because of the lack of social interaction, the social element has been lost.

I think this is why meets are so important.. because it puts reality behind the forums that we are indeed all human.

Surely that could be countered by a level of maturity and a solid grip on reality.

I have only met about 2 or 3 people off overclockers yet I can still have debates and walk away happily regardless of whether I win or lose.

At the end of the day its an internet forum - why people get so worked up over it I will never know. Perhaps they have nothing important in their lives to worry about?

The internet is a form of social interaction - its just some have never had an appropriate exposure to interactions in the real world to know how to behave in the online world.

The other aspect of course is that there is no social, economic or racial barriers online. We are all unknowns and as such we will mix/debate with others who we would not normally associate with. That is the great potential of the internet but unless all parties realise that it becomes a source of conflict / misunderstanding.

I have no problem with dmpoole I even (partially) agree with his Desktop Support people are knobs thread.

There are plenty of other users who grind my gears far more. Hell dmpoole is rational compared to some! :p

I often refrain from posting my thoughts in many threads due to people jumping down each others throats. Majority mob rule. Closed minds etc.

Allot less hassle and stress in saying nothing.

I'm the same. I usually type a response out then read it and think....delete, it's not worth the hassle. When I was younger I would post it regardless and argue til I was blue in face.

Paranoia, chip on shoulder AND attention seeking all in one original post more like.
