What is exactly the sort of thing people hate about this forum? I hate how people make stuff up and take part in ridiculous internet memes such as "FAILBOAT".

I am still a little convinced that this is a bit of a joke thread.
I have no idea who you are or care for that matter but posting a thread like this while having another thread on the same page created by your self titled
"Why are IT Techs so up their own bottoms?"
on a very IT tech based forum is generally not a great idea.
I can understand everyone will have their own opinions about this, and they are welcome to them, but to create a thread like that and NOT expect flaming is just silly.

I was questioning why you said paranoia, which anyone with half a brain would quite clearly see and you try to be sarcastic with a link to a dictionary website.

No you were ridiculously vague and what am I meant to do if I see a post quoting an awkwardly spelled word followed by a "confused smiley"?
What is confusing about why I would say paranoia? He's just posted claiming the whole forum against him it is the perfect fit of the word paranoia.

And he didn't claim the whole forum was against him. He said some are. And some obviously are judging from the fact he has received abusive emails.

Who's stopping you? Just ignore them. There is an ignore function and there is even the ability to read beyond people who disagree with you and move on.
Yea, bad choice of word. I used pedant because I was trying to get across the sense that he knew exactly what the OP meant, and yet still posted what he did. Even if he was right (which as you state correctly, he wasn't), there still wouldn't be a need to post what he did, because it's completely irrelevant.
Personally, I usually like reading your posts, as I feel because you are older you are wiser and more experienced in a lot of things (I often see Huddy and Gillys posts, and the other older members posts in the same light).
I will admit though, the bragging can get irritating (your band, what bands you've seen, irrelivant stuff that happened in your past), but hardly irritating enough to warrant insulting you.

I think like everybody else you choose what you write/post/reveal about yourself.
Of course if there wasn't so many ignorant ***** about we could all be more open about ourselves.
The only emails I have recieved via Oc have been from people that want to get to know me personally & are interested about my past. Obviously I would be more open on the boards if the public were more open minded but they are not so I don't.
Really at your age you should know that You just have to be yourself & **** what anybody else thinks.
I cannot really comment about your threads/posts as I don't read them which is a choice I make after reading other posts of yours over the years. I think in all walks of life we gravitate towards like minded people. Those that are naturally excluded from one group gravitate towards another more suited to themselves, I think this is just natural behaviour.
I'll finish this post off though by saying that If I am accepted here with All my Failings then anybody can be accepted here. I feel Completly comfortable at Oc & feel although I am often taken the wrong way I do end up getting my point across in the end. I've learnt a great deal from these boards & the people that contribute to them & in Time
my patience will improve

I don't have anything against you dmp, and have never found any of your posts or thread to be offensive. I welcome them in fact, it is nice to read upon other's experience, live and learn and there is always something to learn.
However I can understand why someone would, your thread on the IT crowd wasn't so smart. It wasn't the topic as such, it was the way you put it - the title itself invites attack. Perhaps if you were more tactful in your wording and convey across your message in a less in your face manner then people tends to agree with you, even if they don't share your feelings they can understand how your experience formed you own believes thus the thread about them as a whole.
It is hard to judge tone on the internet, with only a limited smile selection meaning someone on a bad day can easily miss judge a sentence as an attack on them personally and in the moment can easily written those emails to you.
