Go to PSU brands for 1000w or 1200w?

But also:
  • ATX 3.0: Uses the 12VHPWR connector, which had issues with high-end graphics cards
  • ATX 3.1: Uses the 12V-2x6 connector, which is a safer and more efficient replacement for the 12VHPWR connector.
So to be fair, I'm not overly clear, I believe it's mainly connector differences. Someone more intelligent will hopefully chime in.

12v-2x6 is just a modified 12vhpwr connector, they're cross compatible, ie: you can use a 12vhpwr cable on a 3.1 psu, and you can use a 12v-2x6 cable on a 3.0 psu
therefore, i would pay no notice on this front.
in any case, i would assume most psus shipped nowadays (3.0 or 3.1 compliant) will have been shipping with the new cable

Looking into the NZXT, it appears that and the RMx series are now built by CWT. RMx were previously Seasonic I believe.

There's nothing wrong with CWT and they've made some amazing PSU's, but it is a case of them scaling the quality of the unit to how much the company dealing with them is willing to pay.

Fingers crossed current issues are teething more than anything, I'd hang fire on buying an RMx unit until more comes to light given the amount of weird issues on-top of failures we've been seeing with newer models.

It appears that many are shipping the new cable from mid last year. Hopefully most of the old stock will be gone by now.

This is true. I'm sure many of the high end PSUs will be much of a likeness really.
Whatever happened to Super flower PSUs?

I've decided. Think I'll be getting the NZXT C1000/C1200. I believe issues were common with noise and early failures on on eof the C1200 models from a bit of reading last night. The C1200 model number was PA-2G1BB-UK but is now PA-2G2BB-UK.

Corsairs RMx series has been CWT built for years in fact it may have always been. Seasonic used to make the HX, AX, TX/TXv2 and of course Corsairs original CX400 before they cheaped out. I'm not sure if they build any for Corsair now as they have mainly got CWT as their main oem with Great Wall and HEC (yuck) building a couple of series. CWT and Great Wall are very good OEMs and have several very high quality platforms. Platform choice is on the final brand (ie Corsair etc) though.

Steer away from the 2024 Corsair RMx series as there is something very wrong going on with them. There have been many failures of these new units.

Some good information there. As you say, I've noticed a good few reports of the RMx issues but it was originally on my short list.
It appears a similar issue was with the NZXT C1200 but a revised model (2024) was released. From some investigation, I believe NZXT stated that they had seen a higher than usual return on the previous model.

If you do get one can you let us know what you think of it please

I dont know if im allowed to plug various websites but there are some excellent review sites that tear down and test PSU`s with comparison to results from all the other PSU`s they have tested in a similar wattage range.

I always check those sites before I buy a PSU to make sure the build quality is high and the results in various tests are good.

I've been looking on HWbusters mainly. https://hwbusters.com/best_picks/best-atxv3-pcie5-ready-psus-picks-hardware-busters/

I did previously go by the Cultists PSU tier list but I don't think it has been updated in over a year. https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/

yes hw is one of the ones i look at, much of the info goes right over my head but you get the overall idea of whether a PSU is in the very good to excellent range
Got any other websites you can recommend? I believe the only gripe on the forum is linking to competitor pages for products that OCUK also sell.
