Godzilla - Trailer

Why is everyone going in all upset about the human aspect. The film is godzilla, but unfotunely 2 hours of pure godzilla on the screen would dilute him and essentially give us no story. They were there to explain the fight between them and to make it so that the monsters wernt over used. So that when we did see monsters, it bought out the child within us, and we got extremely happy. The parts with godzilla and the mutos was that good that it forgives and then some of the human stuff. The cranston stuff was amazing, and yes everything else seemed forced and contrived, but in the end...... Godzilla, mutos, ocular rape ensued.

I loved how bits and bits of him was shown, just like jaws, and finally you are on edge untill that final reveal where you are clamouring to see him. Loved the ode to older films. The first scene with the helicopter, the way godzillas face looks when roaring and the way they stayed flat and quiet with the mutos a brilliant nod to jurassic Park. As a huge JP fan that was awesome. You can easily see the heavy influence of Spielberg as an idol. And that's not a bad thing. The fact that godzilla was massive and like the toho one was superb.

Minus the humans (not Inc cranston) the film was absolutely superb. Like watching a Wrestlemania match, with the three biggest heavyweights in the finale. Perfectly scripted, and told a wonderful story.

Because it wasn't very well written?

Your expectations are possibly a little lower than other movie buffs.

By that I did mean the fight /monster scenes, not anything else haha

In all honesty , who goes to godzilla expecting the prestige? I personally am just rating the monster part, which was poifect, but hey maybe that's me. I'm usually very critical, but when the actual godzilla part is so good, and that's what I paid for , I can't be mad

Really does make me wonder if these movie buffs ever watched the Japanese variant, and how would they rate it?

Godzilla has always been slight cheese human arc to the storyline (along with Aliens that look like Human) and Godzilla being the anti-hero planet Earth deserves.

I reckon it's rose tinted vision of how people think Godzilla is like from pop culture rather than from the original movies such as Godzilla vs xxxx. (1998 Hollywood not included)

I have not seen much of the old Godzilla movies, I judged this one objectively and purely on it's merits. However, from what I have seen of the old movies, despite a few homages this one was always intended to have a completely different style due to the changes in modern film-making and of course the epic budget.

I love the old Japanese Godzilla Movies and even liked the 1998 movie (for some weird reason) They are just pure cheese, with some decent fights and devastation.

For me... This movie just amplified all the aspects of the originals that I loved!!... Thought it was quite a good movie!.

I'll just say... each to his own... it's a Marmite Movie! Some Hate Some Like! though I can't understand the Vehement Hatred from some people!

"Worst Movie Ever!!"

I could name quite a few movies much much worse!!

I give it a 7/10 (even possibly an 8/10) :D

I decided to hunt down my old VCDs and rewatched Gozilla: Final Wars. I take back what I said about the human side of this Godzilla film, it is similiar to the japanese story telling :p.

Not sure if I got a little too excited when I saw "Mothra" written on the glass tank in the little boy's room when they returned to get those 3.5" harddisks...

Anyone noticed the word or am I just seeing things? (Along with the twin sisters in the trailer...)

I thought I saw that too! But it's probably just a little easter egg, not the actual Mothra :(.

I enjoyed it, I mean the acting and script was sub-par (obviously cranston was excellent), but if you bought the ticket to see anything other than giant monsters fighting each other, you're not the intended audience.

Totally agree with this. Having not seen the previous incarnation, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was great and visually stunning. Great in Dolby 7.1, especially for the first roar!

Godzilla sequel in the makes! I'm hoping they will make some changes for the better

Edwards has talked about what he would do with a sequel, saying he would use the same kind of restraint that he did for this one. He learned well from watching Spielberg films as the monster was only talked about for the first part of this film. And, of course, there were those reaction shots that added to the suspense

Oh great so another movie where you see near bugger all till the last 20 minutes.

Just back from the cinema. This doesn't seem to be some peoples' cup of tea, however, I thought it was excellent. The build up, the fight scenes and I actually quite enjoyed the human story too.

I read a reivew which reckoned Edwards deliberately started the film off with a human focus in but as events unfold the human aspect becomes less and less important, until by the end they're reduced to merely being powerless bystanders and the big G has become the focus.

Do I have to spoiler tag?

I came out expecting exactly what I went in for and really enjoyed it, but a few points.

A lot of the orchestral score was disappointing, after hearing Requiem in the trailer (which spoiled the feeling of seeing it in the film) I was hoping to hear similar harrowing scores to give a feeling of overwhelming dread, but all I got was recycled generic music :| I'd have liked if they made it just a tad brighter in some of the scenes for the sake of being able to see a bit more, I saw it in 2d because I know 3d suffers from reduced brightness and even then it wasn't bright enough.

Like most, would have been nice to see a bit more of the fellow, I felt like just as I was marveling at his immense size it would change frame.

Ultimately, 2014 is the year where I've decided to avoid watching trailers because most of the film was predictable on that fact. You know exactly what was going to happen for most of the film.

I rarely go to the cinema and even the pre-film trailers are getting more ridiculous in content shown.

I was disappointed Cranston was killed off so early though, that I didn't see coming, even when we first though he died I was like, nah... and then he was being carted off alive and still thought it was a precautionary but temporary measure.

Graphically and Visually I was impressed, especially the muto's sfx.
I expected a more depressing film though!

Probably been said but how does the US military miss a giant monster (plus a large chunk of mountain) escaping a facility and heading to Vegas?
