I have a 2TB Samsung 990 Pro which is PCIE 4.0 only had it a couple of months, PCIE 5.0 seem a lot faster but can you actually see this in real world performance is it worth the upgrade

Also Samsung don't do a Pro version of PCIE 5.0 do they?

what spec system and use case is this for?

no difference in games or unlikely you'll even notice a difference in boot up times. Only time you'll notice is if you do multiple file transfers of big files and even then to make the most of it you need 2 drives.

If you plan on keeping this build and drive for a long time then you should probably go for the 5.0 as its better futureproofed however

I've just upgraded to AM5 and went for 3 2tb gen 4 drives, 2 990 pro's which cost £103 and then 80 after cashback then a SN850X for £100, I did consider gen 5 but realistically for my use which is mainly gaming I saw little point to pay the premium.

I might upgrade one to a gen 5 in the future when prices come down but currently I see little reason to.
