hi, i have had a motherboard expire on me it seems so while the pc is apart i have decided to go from 2x raid0 corsair force 3 120gb to a single 250gb samsung 850 evo.
good move or not???

I have the 850 evo and had it just over a week, I am happy with it and did seem more snappy than my 840 evo which it replaced.

done a clean install of windows 7 and this was using a narvel controller on a x58 board which is not great for sata 6 speeds.

what do you use the PC for, gaming or video editing?

the single SSD may not be as fast as your raid setup which you will not notice for gaming as I did try my 2 x 840 evos as raid and made no difference for gaming load times so kept them as single drives

You're unlikely to notice a reduction in speed (as very few applications really hit a bottleneck with SSD's) unless you benchmark of course. For the sake of it being less prone to failure, I'd say it's worth it, but then I am a Samsung SSD fanboy ;)

just got the evo. noticed it's msata? i don't know much about that. i have an asus z97 pro wifi board. will it work on that board. this is for my main os drive

You need an msata to sata adapter as your board will not take msata natively (the adapter is simply to change the connecter type to fit, it doesn't reduce performance).
You're sure its not and M.2 ssd? In which case your board has a slot for that.
You could just sell it and buy the normal sata version?

yeh thats the board. if i use m.2 it looks like i lose 2 pci-e slots. if i send the ssd back what 250gb ssd would you recommend? i'm looking for up to £100 with top performance
