Going out by yourself?

I go to my local rock club on my own quite often. It may seem weird to some people, but I don't feel the need to be surrounded by my peers in order to feel socially accepted. Plus I always end up meeting new people.

What? Of course it's not sad. I've been to plenty of gigs on my own, purely because most of my friends don't like Power Metal.

WOAH!!!!!!!

Lemme stop you right there before you comment on what's sad and what isn't.

Seriously though, nothing sad about going to a gig solo, it's not like you can really talk while you are there anyway. It's a bit like going to a cinema on your own, usually considered sad but the biggest pain in the backside at the cinema are the other people. Gigs need a crowd obviously, just go.

No, it is not sad. Why miss out on something you want to do because the person who you were going to go with can't? It may not be the same as going with someone, but it can still be an enjoyable experience. I've been to a couple of gigs alone, and I find myself a lot more free to do what I want, go nuts, push, and the like. It's not like you're going to be spending much of the night conversing anyway.

Those who say that it is sad come across as rather sad themselves. Do they require other people to hold their hand? To make them feel safe? That's a little sad if they can't enjoy something because they are alone.

I used to feel like that and it makes it 100 times more difficult.
Just do it, no one gives a **** except you...
It can be quite liberating actually, and anyone you do meet will see you for who you are whilst interacting with them, and not as part of a group of friends who might re-enforce that sense of dependance you have on them to onlookers.

What does Sad mean? stfu seriously. Do what you want, not what other people think you should do. I hate that word, stop trying to be a stereotypical human being, you have freedom you know.

And I suppose you're the coolest kid on the block :o

Also, I already commented on what's sad and what isn't. So you kinda fail.

Bit touchy? For future reference I tend not to use /jk or IMO, I credit people with intelligence and assume that they have a humour gland.

For the record, I'm actually the coolest kid on the block my a friggin' mile.

I don't even know what power metal is, is it men in tights with make-up on? When I were a lad there was just metal and that was it (largely based around men in tights):)
