Hi
posted an earlier thread about Crucial C300 vs OCZ Vertex 2E, and read about a bit and decided on the OCZ.
I'm looking to go SSD, using the 60GB OCZ vertex 2E used purely as a windows+apps drive running Win7 x64.
Never thought to stripe two of these drives in Raid 0 and boost the performance till reading thru the threads here...
Seems with SSD in Raid 0 you cant run the TRIM command, but the OCZ drives have their own ways (Garbage Collection) or keeping them running good.
From the OCZ forums I tried to get a clear answer on running two of these drives in Raid 0, any pitfalls, experiences etc and it seems that to keep them running sweet theres a lot involved, with logging off often, frequent reinstalls etc?
Any of the OCUK guys have experience of running SSD in Raid 0 - particualrly the Vertex 2e's - with regard to speed boosts over single SSD and is it worth the seemingly complicated maintenance routines you seem to need?
More hassle than its worth, or is the speed increase more than worth it?!
Thanks very much.
*if its relevent, I run 3D modelling and animation software mainly, as well as Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
Would I see the benefit in this kind of system with the 500mb/s or so data throughput using Raid 0 SSD's?
More speed is a good thing, but would I actually SEE it in day to day use over a single SSD.
(Im moving from normal Hard drives..which the slowdowns are driving me nuts!)
