Going to look at this car - honest opinions please .

Can anyone give me a quick run down on manual vs. tiptronic - pros and cons etc . I dont really understand how tiptronic works . . . .

If you dont buy it, id like to know the details please because my dad might be interested in it.
Its got quite a few expensive extras on it (clear lights, carrera wheels, leather interior), so for that price its a good buy.

i wouldnt have an issue owning that car in tiptronic :]
if your a control freak or want to do some racing or track days then get a manual.
if your after a nice car that has some power when you want it or will jsut be cruising in it then go for the tiptronic :]

I've had one of these to drive for a couple of months and it was fantastic. The gearbox is a dream. £15k isn't so far off the mark. I assume he has a little in that for negotiation. Take particular care checking over the hood but, if it is anything like you say then it could well be worth close to the 15 mark. I might have been tempted in this myself if I had seen it a couple of months ago

Your quotes are more unique, do you not find nearly a grand for a 32 year old with near enough full NCB on a bog standard 2.0 Mondeo is verging on extortion? There are people in this forum insuring Imprezas for half that.
Quite common with soft tops really, people buy them for the sun then sell them when it goes away. Make sure the service history is spot on, services done on time and so on and definitely HPI it.MehulLakhani said:

I'd also want a local independent specialist to give it the once over. It'll cost maybe a couple of hundred, max, but if it saves you thousands it's money well spent.

2.5 is the "least" of the Boxster varieties - if you can stretch, the 2.7 is a far better option.
It MUST have a full service history at correct intervals, and the majority of them should have been carried out at OPD - as its now 7 years old, I would expect recent servicing and going forward you can go to recgnised Porsche specialists.
For it to be a minter, you need to see the history file - old mots, service receipts - maybe even phone up the past owners or servicing dealers to get a flavour on whats been done.
For a comparison try looking at some specialists such as

Although it looks clean and tidy from the photo, I would sincerely recommend a fine tooth comb and investing in an inspection at a specilist - if the cars got nothing to hide the owner shouldnt mind, and given the size of your investment and the potential costs if things go wrong (with no come back on a private sale) you shouldnt mind the cost.

Using confused to search insurers, i get about 2k to insure the fox mobile, as the main driver TPFT. try bell direct (part of admiral) they have been cheap for my renewal this year. I'm 26 with a group 17 car and 2 years NCB. Fully comp it's only £640.
