Just thought I would post about the final outcome of going to university in my 30s with severe dyslexia.

Well, I got confirmation on my final grade I am happy to say I got a first-class degree :D

And I kept my A or above grades over the 4 years so I was pretty happy about that lol.

I have now been hired as an IT engineer for a massive Aerospace company.

I mostly wanted to post here to show that even if you think you can't do it or are afraid, give it a go you never know how far you will get.
My wife and I have said many times I thought I would not make it past the first 6 months.

And finally, thank you for my Previous posts for your help and support I very much appreciate it.

Good work mate! Impressive grades too... I graduated first class at 30 but had a range of module scores including a few low ones. One exam in final year I got 31% (30% is an instant module fail). That was pretty hairy, I'm convinced the lecturer "found" an extra mark to keep me above water :D

Excellent effort! I too was a late starter and started uni at tender age of 28. Best decision I ever made.

Good luck in the new role!

Thank you, everyone :)

Excellent and I bet just like my youngest daughter you worked 5x harder than everyone else and handed in A* assignments.
I always had it in my mind my work wont be good enough compared to my peers so I need to try harder just to have a chance of passing.

I am now self-studying and improving on what knowledge I gain at university so I can apply for more range of positions later.
Thanks.

****** up my GCSE's, so never did the Uni thing, not that it was ever an option for a North East council estate lad. As i got older, i re-did my GCSE's and also realised that having a degree opens previously closed doors and would also be huge for my own personal development.

At the age of 42 i also got a First. There was also a few residential modules, dang! it made me wish i had done Uni properly the first time around!

Fantastic achievement and well done :)

Nice one, yeah just having a degree opens many more doors even if you don't have on-the-job experience.
Once you have gained some real-world experience you can expand your options.

From the get go, you WANTED your degree. That is the primary reason for your success. A lot just go to uni as the next step, then focus too much on drinking/women etc lol.

Protip: You can waste your 20s chasing women and drinking without paying student fees :D

LMAO. Yup. Thankfully, I still managed to get a degree, and -finally- decently employed. Had I done it again, I would have stayed away from relationships, and got my uni work done first. Too much procrastination.

The only other person I know with dyslexia that went to uni got a first as well. They had to work hard, but the focus was on the work. That's the key.
