Goldeneye (64) on Xbox Live Arcade?

I just dug out my N64 and set it up on my 32" Toshiba LCD.

This game is definately best as a memory. Now it seems so crap after games like COD4. Each level can be done in about 2mins and the autoaim is frankly stupid, it autoaims someone about a mile away and you cannot miss :D

The controllers feel rubbish too.

I guess now we have been spoilt

What did you connect it with? The RF lead i guess.

Wonder how much better scart connections are.

If you want a good fps to play online, go play some Halo or something. Goldeneye right now is awful to play on. It just won't hack it in today's era. I took my N64 out only last week and played Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie and Rayman 2. Only Rayman 2 aged adequetely enough to be considered playable. Even by XBLA's standards, Goldeneye would be fugly and unplayable, unless Rare decided to HDify it and replace the models and environments; then it wouldn't be Goldeneye anymore.

It's one of those games best left commited to memory I'm afraid.

The controls are opposite to COD and halo too, your right hand does the walking and left does the looking, takes a while to get used to it

i prefer to leave it. i remember it being awesome.

i'll leave it like that and not spoil the memory.

Good choice. I, like simon, was playing it the other day and its awful. The only decent thing about it was the achievements and the unlockable things in the timelimits, kept the singleplayer a challenge. Multiplayer is fun for about 10 minutes then it became a game of who can make the biggest remote mine tower.

Words can't decribe how bad it looks and plays now though, modern games have far-surpassed it.

The ironic thing its its available to the "pirates" as they can run emulators for it :D

This is how i remember it from back in the day...

You see, I still find Goldeneye and HL1 graphics acceptable to play a game. They don't need to be any better to improve the gameplay, although the framerate in multiplayer GE is a pain!

Multiplayer is still fun, but Perfect dark multiplayer is great fun. Played it the other day.

When Goldeneye came out, I remember it being amazing:cool:

I played Goldeneye a few months back and loved. The gfx are good enough, the main thing is the gameplay is still awesome.

at best i reckon that we would get perfect dark 64 on live
i doubt that all the red tape would get cleaned up so this would be possible
and with xbox live prices - it would probably be cheaper to buy a n64 + goldeneye

Rare are too busy making ‘great quality’ games like viva piñata to be bothered with something as trivial as a goldeneye remake
Because they obviously don’t realise it is one of the best games ever made

Id be happy with a HD smooth version. I dont want it in SD, if I wanted to see that Id just play the original. Dont all 360 games have to be HD anyway ?
