looking for a good all in one hifi system to drive my Dynaudio 42's

must be able to play mp3's from CD
must have at least 3 aux ports
would be nice to have a usb port

max budget £300

You need a decent amplifier for those speakers, a budget all in one unit isn't really up to the job.

I would look for a second hand stereo integrated amplifier for that £300 budget. Leave source for now, just use whatever at hand...ie mp3 player, spare CD player, DVD player etc...then get a CD player or media streamer later on.

already have a arcam cd72 and yamaha zx596 amp. Misses wants them replacing with something smaller! which is why a mentioned all in one systems

You're not going to find a quality DVD player and 5.1 amp for £300. They start at £1000, checkout Linn Classik and Arcam Solo.

If the wife wants you to change things over then you need to spend more. Those Dynaudio speakers are incredibly hard to drive, you need a good amp. 4Ohm, 86db...wow looking at a high current, high power poweramp.

You could leave the CD player out, and put the amplifier away in a cupboard. Use wireless RF and IR blaster to control your amplifier, ie get a meaty stereo integrated amp instead of a all in one. That way to her eyes you still have one unit, just the CD player in view.

Cyrus seperates ?
I know this forum is the home of people who spend £100 per metre on speaker cable, but that's no excuse for not reading the OP at all. The guy has a budget of £300, you can't buy anything Cyrus for £300, let alone a full system.

Just grab a Denon or Onkyo mini system and be done with it.

If he's willing to go 2nd hand, he could get a CDP and amp :)

I looked a year or so back for used Cyrus stuff and it never went near that price. If you know somewhere/someone feel free to share though :)

If seperates areout of the question then just grab a Onkyo mini system, you can pick one up for £300 without speakers and it has the features you want, just not sure how it will drive thoose dynaudios.

Not to be rude but i would tell the missus to get lost. I want good quality AV not equipment that fits with her 'Changing Rooms' view on life!!!

Agree entirely. I'd like to see her reaction if he says "I want you to get rid half of your shoes" Two units is hardly "ugly" just replace the Yamaha with a good stereo integrated amplifier.

TBH i dont mind getting rid of my seperates, I hardly ever get time to listen to music...

and for sex vs music, come on no music is that good....
