Sorry I am going to ask a basic question, what would this so that Teamviewer / Remote Logon wouldn't let me do?
 
I don't understand the Windows server part?
I was thinking of shoving Steam OS on the Microserver to stream games from my PC in the office to the TV in the lounge.
 
Anyone using one as a Steam OS client? Just got a HD5450 to put in my box to stream games from my main PC to the TV in the living room. Yet to set up though.

Sorry misread/skim read your question I dont use steam os on it, but I do use the windows steam client to stream games.
Hope that clears it up.
 
Ok.
I am looking to install Steam OS (Linux) on the Microserver and use that as a client from my main PC to get games on my TV in the lounge. I can't seem to find many people doing this setup so not completely satisfied my plan will work ;)
 
Cheers but I don't have a Gen7 :p This would be a fresh build for non-critical services at home (i.e. Minecraft server and test bed, no AD, DNS, DHCP etc.)

I'll expand :)

HP says RAM for the G7 doesn't work in the Gen8 microserver. I say the kit that everyone buys (Kingston IIRC) for the G7 works perfectly in the Gen8 :)
 
What is the biggest HDD that can be installed please?
Will it take a bigger drive? :)
Running out of room and need to swap a 3TB for something bigger

To answer my own question yes a WD red 4TB works
i just bought and installed one.Had to be GPT though

Has anyone tried to install windows 10 on theirs yet? It took me about 6 months to get 8.1 installed so i'm not surprised its only getting 3% of the way into installing W10 and stopping.

Has anyone managed to get W10 to install?
